Clarification A story in the Minneapolis Star last Friday, reporting that the Minnesota supreme court upheld a jury verdict of negligence against Dr. John H. Lihner, did not make it clear that the court held the doctor was not personally negligent but that as the operating surgeon he was liable for the negligence of someone else in the operating room. Dr.

Linner was sued by a patient whose leg was burned by a carbolic acid solution during surgery. A district court jury found the doctor responsible for. such an accident The supreme court held that some person in the operating room other than Dr. Linner spilled the liquid, but "because Dr. Linner was the operating surgeon, he, like the captain of a ship, is vicariously responsible for the acts and ommissions of all who were in the operating room during the course of the operation, even though they were employes of the hospital." Police to Retire After 32 years as a member of the park" police department, Capt.

A. M. Dahlen plans to retire June 24 when he reaches age 65. Dahlen has been captain since March 1955. The park board's 30-member police force is independent of the city force but works in cooperation with the city force.
