A number 11 shoe with a large patch on the sole led to the capture of Johnson, who, after havinb been tuestioned closely, confessed to the theft of a tine porker a citizen near the city a week ago, and implicated Clayton Hand. Johnson is half Indian and half negro, bearing many traits of the Indian race, while his alleged confederate, Hand, is a negro of the blackest hue.

The hah brc confronted the mgro with the 'charge of being implicated in the theft, but the black man denied all knowledge of the affair. In the face of Johnsonos charge and in view ot other evidence which the sheriff Hand, he sent him to jail along with Johnson, who had confessed. The owner of the hog stolen a week or so ago valued the porker at $50, while other people in the neighborhood have had hogs of various sizes stolen from them. All They've Got, But Dope Is Against Them GAME'IS TODAY There is nothing but gloom over the Furmau campus for the sjuiid is in the poorest shape of the year and the student body would rather win the game from the l'resbyterian college than most an; other game of the year. With four of the regulars out of the game, the entile squad have worked hard th.s past week to be able to have a smooth working team by the game today and Coach Laval has spare 1 no efforts to put his men In shape give the Presbyterians a battle. Yesterday afternoon the second backfield was given a long drill ia the signals and the rough edges were taken off in the running (t the interference. The only change that has been made except thote necessitated by injuries, is tlitt Rliaiue has been given the responsibility of running the team and no doubt that this will put some pep In the team. It will also give Speer a greater opportunity to work unhampered and in this way it should strengthen the offensive.

The cry that was heard all over the campus yesterday afternoon was "Hit 'em hard, boys, give them all you got." And the team is determined to do just that. They will give P. C. all that is in them ana then some. Needless to say the Pre-ibytermns are very confident of the game for the reason that all the dope is in their favor.

They having beat Ers-kine, who in turn beat Carolina and Carolina beat Furman 26 to 0. They have a splendid backfield which will be hard to stop, in the two Fulton boys and Galloway. Galloway is stucoptible to injury but has had good luck all this season. As this will possibly be the next to the last opportunity that the football fans will have to se Speer in action there will be a large crowd present. He will in all probability be called into the army by the fir: of the year.

'In Furman's loss the Vnited States will gain one of the best soldiers that can be found in her ranks. There is no doubt that he will hit the Germans as hard he has hit opposing teams. The game will be called prompty at 3:30 and the price of admission will be 50c. e'ars will run to the station every jx-ven minutes and it is only a short walk to the field. r.
