East Defeats West, 66 to 47, in Cinder Collision to life again In the relay event in which both men anchored their respective teams, Laurent coming out on top again to provide a three-yard victory. The East relay team paced the distance in one By GIL MAIENKNECIIT By applying Horace Greeley's sage advice, Coach Al Reed and his East High school track team went West to defeat the West High school thin-clads, 66 to 47, Tuesday afternoon in their traditional dual specialty in 5S.0B.5 second taking the lead from Teammate Roy Anderson by 13 yards. Warren Warwick of West placed third. Chuck LeMieux. of East won th high Jump by clearing th bar at 43, a slam in the high jump and a victory in the relay woud have spelled a one point win for Coach Ed Boguski's Wildcats.

Highlighting the affair, Jerry Laurent, Red Devil dashman, beat out John Kendall of West in the 100 and 200-yard dashes, to score 10 points and top scoring honors of the meet. Laurent's time of 20.4 seconds in the 200-yard dash tied the state record for the event. He got off to a good start and led the entire distance. Laurent got olf to a slow start in the 100 and was hard pressed by Kendall for the first 40 yards. Laurent then pulled away only to be menaced in the last 10 yards by Kendall who placed second a yard behind.

Bob King of West placed third. The winning time was 10.1 seconds. The Kendall-Laurent feud came ning of the Initial event in which the venerable Art Reilley captured the 120 high hurdles. Although West trailed throughout the meet hopes of a possible victory or a tie were not entirely impossible until the end. With the high jump and relay remaining, East led 56 to minute, 33.4 seconds.
