This affair was tho result of an old feud that had cristed between the parties. Tho immediate cause of the shooting was a dispute over the arrest and in-ireeration of a lumberman. It occurred in the open street aliout 5 o'clock Monday evening.

Mcintosh was arrested on the charge of shooting with attempt to kill, and was admitted to bad in the sum of 53,000. Excitement ran high in Florence against Mcintosh and the opinion prevails that when Readmon dies Mcintosh may lie lynclied Mcintosh was a few years ago a rest-dent of Seymour, Outagamie and Ktreet, nes3- Confidence ia it seems to be re K. Cowles, of the town of Scott, is quite the report of the committee Franssens, tion for final settlement filed and order S3 IFcuhlngtoit BAV, iTfte Crop. The agricultural prospect seems to be fully up to the average in this connty. The reports from the various parts of tho county are that grains are in a fair condition generally.

From causes largely local there are exceptions to this, some being very liourl'dJng and some backward. Mr. Wm. Devhue, assessor of the town ofBcllevue finds the acreage of spring wheet tn that town to be nearly 25 per cent more than last year. The acreage of barley ia considerably less than last year.

Oats were largely sown and present a promising appearance. Mr. Albert Vd Lifiert assessor of the town of Depere reports the wheat on high land in that town as looking poorly on account of ihe dry weather lately. The acreage is a littla less than last year. The acitage of barley is also less but of oats much more than last year.

Oats appear fine. The corn crop all over the county is reported very light The amount planted was very Bmall and some of it failed to germinate, necessitating a replanting. It is estimated that the corn product of this county will scarcely exceed one third the usual amount Of winter wheat there was scarcely enough sown to consider. The failure in former years of a good yield of this crop seems to have discouraged the farmers from raising it, but this season the little sown promises an abundant harvest The prospects are that not much trouble will be experienced from the chinch bug or weevle and favorable weather during the time the kernels are forming and maturing will decide a great deal. The late frost this spring was thought by many to have nearly ruined a large portion ot the early fruit crop bnt subsequent developments show that not much injnry was caused by the cold.

The dry weather has quite materially interfered with the grass crop. The moisture may have come early enough to redeem it though if a good crop it must be late. A very little dr weather wiil again parch the sod and more rain would now be very acceptable. Gardens throughout the county are generally luxuriant and their product is in fine condition. sick.

Young Price, with empty pockets, made straightway for the pineries, where he set about cutting roads, cooking in camps and poling supplies fifty miles np Black River. It was in those hard boat-trips, year after year, putting his shoulder to the long pole, that Mr. Price won his lumberman's spurs. Small as he was, no man was ever found to push a boat on him. And so it has been ever since.

While Mr. Price was fighting his way on Black River, young Stephenson was running parallel lines of hard struggling, teaming, boating, log driving on the Escana-ba. From the first he has been one of the hardest workers that ever stepped foot in Wisconsin, always doing for others, and carrying burdens not his own. That he has succeeded so well, and attained honor and fortune, is creditable alike to himself and his army of friends. And here let me put a hint of Mrs.

Price, a wife of thirty years, the most womanly of women, with the weaknesses left out; and Mrs. Stephenson, the bride of a couple of months, wise beyond her years, and another of the same womanly sort Six o'clock found us back to our starting place thirty-six hours before.
