Earlier in the day Lemke told newsmen he intended to make a fight to place his name on the Kansas general election ballot. He said a Union party convention would be called and a slate of electors namd. If it were necessary, he said, the matter would be taken to court. The deadline for filing of electors under the Kansas primary election law was June 20. An older general election law made provision for formation of new parties by convention.
