Jessie G. Harling, 78, widow of L. H. Harling, died Sunday at 6:30 p.m. in an Atlanta, hospital after a long illness.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Edgefield Mercantile Funeral Home. Lt. Gene Hooper Lt. (JG) Gene K. Hooper, 24, son of Mr.

and Mrs. T. S. Hooper of 6 Tasha Drive, was killed Friday morning in a plane explosion near Oceana Air Base, Virginia Beach. The body will be returned to Greenville for funeral services and burial.

Loree Herberts Nelson, 56, of 211 Beason Woodruff, wife of James H. Nelson who died Saturday night, will be conducted Monday at 3:30 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church 1 by Rev. Ben Collins. Burial will be in Greenhaven Memorial Gardens.

Harry W. Wilson GAFFNEY Harry Wood Wilson, 58, retired salesman, died Sunday at 2:15 a.m. at a local hospital after two weeks of illness. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Marie Sortenbary Wilson; a daughter, Mrs.

John C. Elmore; his mother, Mrs. Ada Wood Wilson, and two grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 2 p.m. at Shuford-Hatcher Mortuary Chapel by Rev.

V. Bryan Crenshaw. Burial will be in 1 Oakland Cemetery. Lloyd H. Gilbert CLINTON Lloyd H.

Gilbert died Friday in a Washington, D. hospital after a long illness. He had lived in Washington for number of years and was an attorney with the Justice Department. Surviving is his wife, Mrs. Frances Gilbert of Washington, formerly of Clinton.

The body will arrive in Clinton Monday at 10:58 p.m. and be taken to Gray Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Gray Funeral Home by Dr. William Redd Turner.

Burial will be in Presbyterian Church Cemetery. The family will be at the home of Miss Florrie Burdette, 104 Oakland Clinton. E. T. Mayer NEWBERRY Ebenezer Thompson Mayer, 87, died early Sunday morning at his home, 800 Pope after several years of declining health and an illness of several months.

He was born and reared in County, a of the Newberry, Anderson Sand Mary Jane Mayer. He attended Old Leesville College. He farmed in the O'Neal section of the county prior to moving to Newberry in 1919 where he was chairman of the board of trustees of Old Saluda Academy School. He was a member of Central Methodist Church where he was a former member of the official board. Surviving are his wife, Mrs.

Carrie Emma Warner Mayer; 3 sons, J. B. and R. T. Mayer, both of Georgetown and E.

B. Mayer of Mount Pleasant; daughter, Mrs. John L. Fairey of Orangeburg, 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m.

Monday at McSwain Funeral Home by Rev. Thurmond H. Vickery. Burial will be in Rosemont Cemetery Newberry. The body is at the funeral home and the family at the home.

Drake, 66, of Decatur, yesterday morning at his home. Mr. Drake, who has been in declining health for several years, formerly lived in Greenville and River Falls. He was a graduate of Furman University. Survivors include a brother, D.

Carl Drake Anaheim, a one half-sister, Mrs. Mae Southern of Greenville; a half-brother, John L. Drake of Greenville; and nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Atlanta.

Mrs. Williams Funeral services for Mrs. Rose Gilreath Williams, 55-year-old wife Palmer Williams of Rt. 7, Greenville, who died Saturday at 7:30 p.m., will be conducted at 11 a.m.. Tuesday at Jackson Grove Methodist Church by Rev.

Hoyt Graham and Rev. John Davenport. Burial will be in Jackson Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers who will meet at the church at 10:45 a.m. are Sam and Paul Williams, Joe and J.

At 10 a.m. Tuesday it will be placed in the church. Mrs. Sula Tucker Funeral services for Mrs. Sula Knight Tucker, 85, who died Saturday afternoon, will be held at 11 a.m.

DeLoach GREENWOOD Ansel LeRoy DeLoach, 29, died Sunday at 5:55 a.m. at a local hospital after an illness of one year. He was born in Saluda County, a son of Mrs. Essie Mae Edmonds DeLoach of Greenwood and the late Otis DeLoach Sr. He had lived in Greenwood for the past seven years and was a textile employe.

Surviving, in addition to his mother, are a sister, Miss Vida Mae DeLoach, and a brother, Otis DeLoach both of Greenwood. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 4 p.m. at Harley Funeral Home by Rev. A. A.

Padgett and Rev. E. L. Johnson. Burial will be in Good Hope Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be William Vaughn, Charles Holley, Furman DeLoach, Nathan Edmonds, Gerald Rumbley and Wayman Jones. The body is at the funeral home. The family is at the home of his mother, 25-A Glenhaven Apartments. H. C.

Carroll ANDERSON H. Clayborn Carroll, 81, died Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at his home in the Roberts community after 10 years of failing health and two weeks of illness. Mr. Carroll was a retired farmer and a native of Anderson county.

He was a son of the late William Carroll and Mrs. Lina Heller Carroll. He was a deacon and one of the oldest members of Roberts Presbyterian Church. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Fay Glenn Carroll: a duaghter, Mrs.

Thomas Hatcher of Anderson; two brothers, Rufus Carroll and Tillman Carroll of Westmin- ster; a grandson and two grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at Roberts Presbyterian Church by Rev. Bob Fitler, Rev. Roy Spearman and Rev. Crayton Murphy at a time to be announced by Sullivan-King Mortuary.

Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will be at the home after noon Monday. Mrs. J. W.

Tollison Mrs. Alise Bennett Tollison, widow of John Walter Tollison of Piedmont highway in the West Gantt community, died at her home at 10:55 p.m. Saturday. She had been in declining for past 10 months and seriously for two weeks. Mrs.

Tollison was born June 10, 1899 at Allendale and was a daughter of late H. B. Lila Beck Bennett. Her first marriage was to Ben Ferguson, who died in 1922. In 1924, she moved Greenville and for the past 20 years had lived on the Piedmont Highway.

Her second marriage was to John Walter Tollison, who died in 1954. She was a member of the Welcome Baptist Church. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Lila Sue Rolen, Rt. 2, Piedmont; sister, Mrs.

Myrtle Outs of Augusta, 3 brothers, Sam Bennett and Harold Bennett of Allendale and Hay Bennett of Augusta, 3 step-daughters, Mrs. Ella Mae Freeman, Mrs. Hazel Everette and Miss Elizabeth Tollison, all of Rt. 2, Piedmont; 5 stepsons, Henry Tollison, Willmon Tollison and Tillmon Tollison of Rt. 2, Piedmont, Hison Tollison of Taylors and Newell Tollison of Greenville; 2 granddaughters, Linda and Sharon Ferguson Allendale, and 15 dren.

A son, J. Maner Ferguson, died Nov. 4, 1958 in Allendale. Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Cullen B.

W. E. Johnson and Rev. Thomas Madden at the Tremont Avenue Church of God at 4:30 p.m. today.

Burial will be in Graceland cemetery. Pallbearers will be Rev. Hugh Sellers, Floyd P. Rushing, R. F.

Lathan, E. C. Trammell, Ralph Southerland and Mack Lee Hutchins. The honorary escort will be of the members of the composed, Class of the Travelers Rest Church of God and Dr. J.

Mr. Moore died at a local hospital at 4:20 p.m. Saturday following a long period of declining health serious illness of three He was a member of the Travelers Rest Church of God and of the Men's Bible Class of the Sunday School. His son, Rev. William B.

Rushing Mrs. Lillian Frances Merritt Rushing, 74, widow of Ben Lewis Rushing of 1200 Augusta died yesterday at 4 p.m. at her home following two years of declining health. Mrs. Rushing was born in Anderson County, a daughter of the late Rev.

A. A. Merritt and Nancy Cely Merritt. She had lived in Greenville for 50 years. Her husband, Ben Lewis Rushing, died here March 9, 1940.

She was a member of St. Paul Methodist Church and a teacher Dehorah Class of the church. She was a former president of the WSCS and a member of the Official Board of the church. Surviving are one Lewis Rushing of Charleston; two sisters, Mrs. R.

J. Ginn of Greenville and Mrs. Hugh Blakely of Simpsonville; one brother, W. Arthur Merrett of Greenville, and grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday st' St.

Paul Methlodist Church by Dr. John W. Robison. Burial will be in Springwood Cemetery. The Mackey Mortuary is in charge.

Herman J. Justice Herman James Justice, 50, of 39 Seventh Street, Judson, was dead on arrival at a local hospital at 8:15 a.m. yesterday. He had been in declining health for the past five months and suffered a sudden attack yesterday morning. Justice was a native of Greenville and a son of the late John Glover and Dora Murray Justice.

He had spent all his life in Greenville and for 15 years he lived in the Poinsett community before moving to Judson two years ago. While in the Poinsett community, he was employed by the mill and was night watchman for the J. E. Sirrine Co. at the time of his death.

He was a member of the Poinsett Baptist Church. His first wife, Mrs. Arzonie Eller Justice, died in 1938. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Myrtle Gregg Justice; son, Harold Justice, Greenville: three daughters, Mrs.

Helen Gabala of Chicago, Mrs. Ann Graham of Cayce, and Mrs. Faye Kay of Morocco, a step-daughter, Mrs. Bebecca Barnes of North Charleston; a step-son, Jesse Sexton of Statham, two brothers, William Justice of Asheville, N. and Harold G.

Justice of Greenville: a sister, Mrs. France Hoffman, Pearl River, N. and 16 grandchildren. Funeral plans will be announced by the Thomas McAfee Funeral Home. The body is at the funeral home and will be taken to the residence at 10:30 a.m.

today. Mrs. Josie Nichols SALEM Mrs. Josie Chastain Nichols, widow of Joseph Robinson Nichols, died d. at a Seneca hospital Sunday night.

Arrangements will be announced by Ansel's Funeral Home. Charles E. Verdin Charles Earle Verdin, 37, of Rt. 1, Simpsonville in the Five Forks Community, died at 5:20 p.m. yesterday in the Veterans' Administration Hospital, Oteen, N.

C. following six months of illness. Mr. Verdin was born Dec. 3, 1923 a son of C.

Furman Verdin and the late Mrs. Mary Gertrude Fowler Verdin. The greater part of his life was spent in Greenville County. He operated a television repair shop in the Five Fork community and prior to that time was an employe of Sears Roebuck and Co. Mr.

Verdin was a member of Bethel Methodist Church. He was a veteran of World War II, serving three and one-half years in thorn in Army. Hawaii He did for 18 government months as a civilian. Surviving are his father and step-mother, Mr. and Mrs.

C. Furman Verdin of Rt. 1, Simpsonville: two sisters, Louella Verdin Ponder of Dacusville and Mrs. Greenville; Catherine Verdin brothers, Jones James of Verdin of Easley and Ben Verdin of Greenville. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.

Grumbles, 68, of 309 West Ave. died at his residence yesterday at 7:10 p.m. after several years of declining health and a serious illness of three months. Mr. Grumbles was a native of Greenville County and lived in Greenville all his life.

For the past 21 years he lived at 309 West Ave. His parents were the late John B. and Anna Johnson Grumbles of lower Greenville county. Prior to his retirement 10 years ago, Mr. Grumbles was a cattle dealer.

I He was a member of Brandon Baptist Church and the Men's Bible Class. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Jessie Batson Grumbles of the home; one son, J. Robert Grumbles of the home; one daughter, Miss Anna Gail Grumbles of the home; four brothers, L. B.

Grumbles, J. Grumbles, R. B. Grumbles and G. J.

Grumbles all of Greenville; one sister, Mrs. W. E. Welborn of Pelzer, and one grandson. Funeral services will be held at Brandon Baptist Church Tuesday afternoon at an hour to be announced.

The body will be carried to the residence this afternoon. Funeral arrangements are by Thomas McAfee Funeral Home. A. W. Elliott NEWBERRY Albert William Elliott, 55, died Sunday afternoon home on the WhitmireNewberry Highway after two months of illness.

Born at Aiken, reared at Millen, he was a son of Wiland Eva Toole Elliott. He lived here 33 years, but resided in Whitmire for eight years prior to returning to Rt. 1, Newberry. He was an employe of Aragon Baldwin plant and a member of Queens Presbyterian Church. Surviving is his wife, Mrs.

Minnie Rinehart Elliott. He was last surviving member of this family. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Nazareth Methodist Church in Saluda County by Dr. Neil E.

Truesdell, Rev. Jack Dean and Rev. Claude Harper. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body is at McSwain Funeral Home.

It will be placed in the church at 2 p.m. John Catlett SENECA John Catlett, 78, of South Sixth Street, died at a Seneca hospital at 4:30 a.m. Sunday after an illness of four weeks. He was a son of the late J. P.

and Nattie Martin Catlett, pioneer residents of this section. Born and reared at Anderson, he moved to Seneca many years ago. He was a retired plumber and a member of Seneca Baptist Church. His first wife was the late Mary Bell Hopkins. Surviving from this union are three daughters, Mrs.

D. M. Hanson of Santa Anna, Mrs. R. B.

Enriquez of Colton, and Mrs. Maxwell Taggart of Greenwood; three sons, Jack H. Catlett of Greenville, Fred R. Catlett of Seneca and James Catlett of San Diego, Calif. Also surviving are his second wife, Mrs.

Mamie Henslee Catlett; three step-children, Cecil Henslee of Seneca, Claude Henslee of Charleston and Mrs. Ruth Johnson of Seneca; a sister, Mrs. Fred E. Robinson of Anderson; an adopted sister, Mrs. W.

A. Brown of Greenville; nine grandchildren and a great-grandchild. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 3 p.m. at Seneca Mortuary by Rev. James P.

4, Anderson, died at his home at 12:30 a.m. Sunday after 16 months of declining health and a week of illness. He was born in Hart County, 35 years. He was son of late but lived here for the past Sanders Stamps and Martha Partain Stamps. He was a retired textile worker and a Baptist.

Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Sallie Gunter Stamps; 2 sons, Joe and Tommy Stamps, both of Anderson; 4 daughters, Mrs. Ralph Morgan of Starr, Mrs. W. D.

Wheeler and Mrs. Franklin Black, both of Anderson, and Mrs. Jack Reyns of Hampton, a brother, Louis Stamps of Hartwell, 9 grandchildren and 11 great -grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 4 p.m. at McSosebee J.

4, Easley, the St. Paul community, died at 3:30 p.m. Sunday in a Greenville hospital after a brief illness. Born in Mooresville, N. Anne was the daughter of Mr.

and Mrs. Edgar F. Patterson. Mr. Patterson was associated with Mooresville Mills for several years before moving to Easley in February of 1951.

He is now connected with Clinton Corn Processing Co. Mrs. Patterson was the former Louise Payne of Charlotte and vidson, N. C. Anne was in the sixth grade at Wren School where she was also a member of the junior band.

She was a Girl Scout and a member of Easley Presbyterian Church and the junior department of its Sunday school. Survivin: also are two brothers, Michael Yate: Patterson and John Andrews Patterson, both of the home; her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John L. and Louise Yates of Easley and Mrs.

H. B. Patterson of Charlotte. Private committal services will be conducted Monday afternoon. Memorial services will be conducted Tuesday at 11 a.m.
