at her home after several years of declining health and an illness of one month. Born in Greenville County, a daughter of the late Ervin and Catherine (Ayers) Batson, she had spent her entire life in the same community. Mrs. Loftis was the oldest and a very active member of Mountain Creek Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Lydia Class of the Sunday School and the Julia Graham Circle of the Woman's Missionary Society.

Surviving are 2 daughters, Mrs. Crystal Boling and Mrs. Allie Charping of Rt. 5, Greenville; 2 sons, Wade H. Batson of Greenville and John S.

Loftis of Taylors: stepson, Markley Loftis of Greenville; 9 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 2 p.m. at Mountain Creek Baptist Church by Rev. J. A.

Cave. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body is at The Mackey Mortuary and after 4 p.m. Wednesday, will be at the home.
