David F. Cunningham, auxiliary bishop and vicar of the Syracuse Diocese, died yesterday at her home after an illness of two weeks. She was a resident of 250 Homecraft Rd. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Harry Shepard of Syracuse, Mrs.

Robert Proctor of Canastota; three sons, Gerald and children, Services will be at 10 a.m Monday at the John Murphy Funeral Home and at 10:30 a.m in St. John the Baptist Church, of which Bishop Cunningham if pastor. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, DeWitt Friends may call from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today and tomorrow at the funeral home.

LEWIS SMITH, a life resident of LaFayette, died last night at Onondaga General Hospital. Retired, he had been a farmer and laborer. Survivors include two sons, Fred Smith, of Fayetteville, and Harvey Smith, of Columbus, Ohio, and several nieces and nephews. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Hall Funeral Home at LaFayette.

(Bard) Lyman 0,1. Lyman Dies; Novelist Former P-J Sports Editor Olin L. Lyman, 84, historical novelist and of-The Post-Standard in the early 1900's, died last Saturday in Albany. He was buried in Albany beside his wife, the late Mrs.

Anna May Hitton Lyman. also a novelist, who died- in. 1952. Mr. Lyman was the author of several novels and histories of the North Country, including, "The Trail of the Grand Seigneur" and "Embers of Empire." number of years, Mr.

Lyman was a reporter for The Watertown Daily Times. Until three yeafs ago he had been employed by the William Press in Albany. In 1937 Mr. Lyman assisted in the editing of the New York State Guide, a Federal writers project. He at one time in charge of historical research dealing xvith Jefferson County.

Mr. Lyman was born near Malone in 1875, the son of the late Smith P. and Helen McConnell Lyman. His father was a veteran of the Civil War and his mother was the daughter of Judge Joseph A. McConneUl of Watertown.

At the age of 21 Mr. Lyman became a reporter on the old Watertown Daily Standard and shortly afterward joined the reportorial staff of The Watertown Daily Times. He became sports editor of The Post-Standard in 1904 and while working for this newspaper finished his second novel, "Micky," the story of a newspaper reporter who fought political corruption. After leaving The ard, Mr. Lyman moved York City and subsequently many of his short stories and poems were published in Argosy.i 19 Legal point 20 Out of favor: 2 wds.

Whitcomb, Political Figure, Lodgeman, Dies Joseph Whitcomb. 86. i Thursday at his home in Lysander after a long illness. Mr. Whitcomb was a former alderman in the 17th Ward and was a native of Waldo, Me.

He was graduated from the University of Maine and was a member of the Phi Kappa Sigma fraternity. He was a 33d Degree Mason and a member of the Central City Lodge, FAM. He was a member of North Syracuse Methodist Church and was a former member of the University Methodist Church' He was active in politics.
