The joke is that in New York, the largest gathering place for weirdos on the East Coast, Jason is just one of the crowd. "You don't understand," one lad says to an indifferent waitress.

"There is a maniac trying to kill us." "Welcome to New York," she replies. The movie is gory and conventional, but the change of scenery and occasional dashes of humor make this one, well, a cut above the others in this uninspired series.
