Delaney of Fort Howard, went north on a business trip this morning. Mrs. Mary Cotton arrived home last night after an extended visit in Kenosha and elsewhere. Marine. The steamer Evalyn left yesterday for Oshkosh, loaded with ooal and sail.

The schooner Eleanor is lying at Car- gill's dock, making some repairs while waiting for her contorts. She will soon start on the return trip to Toledo. Tbe Schiller left tor down the Bay for fish to-day. $300 lleicara. Tbe former proprietor of Dr.

A. N. Hale of Fort Howard is fitting up his pleasant little place in good style, having put a neat fence in front of the premises. The court bousa grounds have been cleaned up nicely, and present a fresh and attractive appearance. Tbe prisoners lend a hand in keeping the lam mowed and making other improvements.

Dr. Bartran, assisted by Dr. Crane, on yesterday removed a large tumor from tbe neck of Ueury iScbinck, of the town of Rockland. The tumor was ad hered to tho large vessels of the neck, making the operation a very difficult one. Sylvester Hartman of Fort Howard, is progressing well with his chicken bouse, and it will soon be completed.

It ia a large, roomy building with an extensive yard in tbe rear. All the latest improvements, including incubators, will be put in. F. R. Walker, a mail agent on ths Chicago Northwestern road between Green Bay and Menominee has received notice that he is an offinsive partisan, and his place has been supplied, P.

The business prospeot again begins to look encouraging, and it is probable that good times are not far off, unless another nnforseen hindrance arises. The Cadet Light Iufantry has or ganized an orchestra, consisting of three violins, cornet and other pieces.

A dispatch from Racine says that man by the name of Foster did a thiev mg business in jewelry in that city a short time ago. He seems to have as large and endless a variety of names as he had in tbe cheap jewelry line. Here he gave his name as Dalton. The commission on equalization of taxes in Brown County met yesterday in the city, and qualified before J. 11.

In connection with the Business Men's Association, it would be a good idea if some regular subject were fixed upon for discussion for eacb evening, one week in advance.

This would give members ample opportunity to think the matter over, and provoke a wholesome interest in the aim of tbe organization. Short, pithy speoches from each person present would prove of great benefit in creating an interest. A large number of propositions for membership to the Business Men's Association have been lately filed and the prospects are that that organization will pursue its courso with even more vim than ever before. Our people cannot afford to let it die a natural death, nor will they. It will grow and prosper, and boom the city of Green Bay, advertise its advantages, and prove of untold benefit to this place.

A regular meeting will be heldto-night in the new rooms. A new hardware firm bas located in the oily, Hod will establish a store in the Beaumont block, in the place recently vacated by II. Dewan. The firm Gotto Mueunier; the former, Mr. Joseph Gotto is well known here, and at one time was a member of tbe shoe firm of Gotto, Duchateau Co.

Mr. Mueunier is a son-in-law of Mr. Gotto, and was formerly a resident of Bay Settlement. The interior of the store is being arranged for their business, and they expect to be ready to open up the first of next month. The Murphy mill plant begins to loom up before the vision, and presents a business-like appearance.

A long row of piles for the dock have been driven, and a driver is still at work. Tbe dredge Eva has made a deep pnasnizeway toward the rear of tho mill from tbe river, and the mill frntue, on a pile foundation several feet high, is progressing fluely. Quite a large crew of men is engaged on the work, and when completed the mill will add much to tbe looks of the city as a business place, as well as to its future prosperity. Monroe will have a Methodist church parsonage costing 81,100. John Belintki was arrested on Tuesday for cruelty to animals. He had not properly feed and watered hit horses for some time past. He was fined $25 and costs, or 841.10. The village board of Dodgeville have passed a resolution prohibiting ball playing on Sunday in the city limits.

Lightning struck a two story building at Tomnb Tuesday morning, shattering the roof. Frompt work saved it from destruction. The Oshkosh base ball club received its first defeat Monday at the hands of the Eau Claire boys, by a score of 6 to 4. The game was played ou the ground of the latter club. A banquet and jubilee was had by the Salvation army at Beloit Tuesday.

Racine county prohibitionists have de cided to call a convention for July 19, at Union Grove, where a full ticket will be placed in the field, and delegates to State convention, to be held in Madison on July 28th will be chosen. The Fish Bros, wagon factory nt Ra cine will soon shut down, as they have all stock worked up. A company of St Louis gentlemen will erect a resort hotel at Schleiaenger-ville on the bank of Cedar Lake, tho coming summer. An increased demand for lumber is reported at Eau Claire. An unknown man was killed by a passenger train Tuesday morning, three miles north of Racine.

He was a German, 55 years old. Michael J. Best, aged 35 years, a barber and jeweler at Waterford. shot himself near the heart on Tuesday evening. He is still alive.

Drink was the cause. Ossian Cook's new steam yacht was launched this afternoon at Oshkosh. M. Grabner aged 17 was married to Teronica Miller aged 2G yesterday in Oibkosb. Tbe steamers Leander Choate and Tom Wall will run on the Wolf River line tbit season, commencing the last of this week.

The boats will be run each day each way between Oshkosh and New London. In a ten mile walk at Neenah Monday night, Plank of that oity beat Sullivan of Oshkosh, and won a $50 purse. Judge D. J. Pulling, formerly of Oshkosh now of Millston, has been ill for some time, and is now delirious, requiring constant attention.

The Oshkosh board of education have tackled the question as to whether it shall abolish examinations in ward schools. The river in the region of Rushford is receding, leaving a debris of filth in windrows on the low lands and meadows. Several have suffered a deal by the overflow. An important conference with reference to the home missionary work of the Wisconsin Congregational Churches was held yesterday at Madison. In the afternoon an interesting meeting was held, papers were read, and several speeches by prominent divines were given.

Another arrest has been made in connection with tbe Racine murder, the person being Fred Christiansen a 16-year-old brother of Lonis Christiansea, who is now serving a six year sentence at Waupun for the murder of Michael Schultze. The complaint is by the father of John Santry, who was convicted of the same crime and was sentenced for twelve years. Many believe in Santry's iuno-cence. A report comes from Madison that an effort will be made to prevent the confirmation of Major David Fulton as successor to Major J. W.

Oakley bs United States Marshal, as it is said he feels too warm sympathy for the labor organize, tions. It is said he denounced Gov. Rusk in severest terms for premitting the militia to use such harsh measures. The Wisconsin Horse Breeders met Monday afternoon and elected the following officers: President, Jno. L.
