Washington, June 28. Tbe re port of Mr. Joseph Nimmo, Chief of tbe Buream of Statistics, for tbe eleven months of the ourrent fiscal year ended May 31, shows tbat tbe foreigu oommeres of tbo country is in aigniy protpsrou oonaition. Tbe excess of tbe value of exports over that of the imports of meroban dise for tbe period mentioned amounted to 8255.156,125, as gainst similar excess lor tbe oor responding period of tbe preceding fisoal year, amounting to only $156,006,171. Tbe largest emess a tbe value or tbe exports over tbe mports of merchandise with respect to fisoal years was for tbe year end off June 30, loiSJ, when it amount ed to $264,661,666.

or only 89.. 505,541 in excess of the amount given for the eleven months ending May 31. It is quite possible, therefore, that in view ef tbo prea eot coadi ion of itrade, the balance our favor during tbe current fisoal year will be larger thin ever before in tbe history of tbs coua- trJ Tbe condition of tbe country witb respost to imports of speoie is also very gratifying During eaob year, from 1861 to 1879, tbe exports of spooie from the oountry exceeded the imports of tbe same. But during the fUcel year ending June 30, 1880, the excess of tbe imports of peoio over exports amounted to $75,891,391. This balance in our favor will be largely exoeeded dur ing the ourrent fisoal year, which will olose on Thursday next.
