6 DECEMBER 17,1978 SUNDAY TV December 17, 1978 KTCA-2 WCCO-4 KSTP-5 KMSP-9 WTCN-11 PBS CBS NBC ABC SUNDAY MORNING Maxwell Smart goes big screen United Press International Hollywood, Calif. Don Adams will reprise his starring role as the bungling, half-witted spy in "The Return of Maxwell Smart," a feature film sequel to his defunct "Get Smart" television series. The popularity of the series, currently syndicated in the United States and 67 foreign countries, inspired Universal Pictures producer Jennings Lang to convert the character to the big screen. Production is due to begin in January. Lang said "The Return of Maxwell Smart" has a $6-million budget and is being written as a satire on international cloak-and-dagger adventures in the vein of James Bond films.

New host named for children's show New York, N.Y. Michael Young will debut as host of ABC-TV's "Kids Are People Too" Jan. 7. He previously was host of "Columbus Goes Bananaz," a live variety show in Ohio with guests of interest to teen-agers. In September he became a roving reporter with WCVB-TV in Boston, where he travels the metropolitan area reporting news features for the station's morning news program.

He will continue these duties. Holiday film onCh. 11 "Miracle on 34th Street," for which Edmund Gwenn won an Academy Award for his portrayal of Kris Krin-gle, will be aired at 1 p.m. Dec. 27 on Twin Cities Ch.
