Red Roof Eager Beaver Is Visitor at Root Beer Stand A small beaver, lost on the streets of Helena Wednesday night, was returned to water by police officers after the animal created a disturbance at a local root beer stand. Helena has been visited at different times by many types of wildlife but police officers expressed belief that this was the first time a beaver ever strayed into the city. Police received, a call from the and root beer stand at 10:28 o'clock last night, advising them that a small beaver was running around the lot outside the establishment. Patrolman Art Goodale answered the call and caught the animal. He then phoned Walter Everin, deputy game warden, and Goodale turned the beaver loose in Ten Mile creek.

Wafer Conservation Board Asks Slate Department Action Montana's water conservation board today asked the American state department to take "appropriate action" to assure the state's right to waters arising in the Montana part of the Belly-Waterton drainage and to bring about quick termination of the five-year old dispute with Canada. The international streams rise in northeastern Glacier National park and flow into Canada, where that nation's farmers already have made use of part of the waters. Montana claims that portion of the water arising within its boundaries, but Canada resists that claim. The matter now is before the international joint commission, a group representing both nations on such disputes. It was submitted in 1948.
