THE CITY. CRIM. CON. A Bereaved wife Travels from Nashville to Columbus in Search to Columbus in Search of Her Husband--She Finds Him. One of the fair daughters of the Sunny South celebrated the new year In the city of Nashville by unltlnjr herself in the gold en boudsof matrlnony with a commissary's clerk connected with an Ohio regiment quartered about that city.

The young gen- tleman was like the secretary to Dogberry, possessed of some good looks, which were the result of art, and knew how to read aud write, which was the gift of nature; the young lady in addition to these qualities, was supposed to possess what is of more value than either as the world goes, a for-. i tune. The couple lived in happiness for the extraordinary period of one mouth, when the clerk received a discharge and came North, promising to return on the wings of love in the shortest time and by the quickest route; A month passed but the husband did not return, and the bereaved wife began to suspect that the. charms of the home in Rich' land county would extinguish the memory of the Nashville happiness. She accordingly came to Ohio, hunted i down her delinquent husband, and Anally traced him to Columbus.

With many lam' entatlons sho made known her multiplied wrongs to the police and Invoked ns-' 8lstance In discovering the clerk. Night before last the young gentleman was traced to a house on Front street, under suspicious circumstances. The Injured wife was In formed of the fact, and she hastened to ac. company the officer to the house which the lost partner of her wxlded joys had en tered. The wife and officer unceremoniously entered the house together, and the by this time infuriated lady plunged frantically in- to the first bed chamber, and found the tru ant In bed, but not alone Another female of easy virtue and undoubted character sprang from the couch and stoutly maintained that she had a prior claim -upon the husband, by reason of longer and more in timate acquaintance.

A dreadful scene of violence and confuslou ensued," which was only terminated by the policeman carrying the subject of dispute to the city prison The duped and deluded wife was firm and furious in her determination to have the delinquent sent to the Penitentiary forth' with, for adultery, bigamy, or. whatever of- feuse was most convenient under the stat 'uteof Ohio. The hearing of the case was postponed by Mayor Thomas until afternoon, to afford an opportunity for tho deceived wife to con trol her feelings and subdue her lndigna tlon. At three o'clock the case was heard, and those acquainted with such affairs in police courts can easily guess the denoue ment. A few sighs, a few soft words and several hard pledges on the part of the hus banda flood of complaints, a score of hys i terical sobs, a tragic flourish of a cambric handkerchief, and the pair became recon- clled.

He pleaded guilty to disorderly con duct, she liquidated his fine, and the twain departed so lovingly aa to recall to the mind of an officer the beautiful lines of In gomar and Partbenia "Two carrots on a Hi ngle root jr '( ij i 0 hoads ai Examination or Army Surgeons. A SOUK 3 The Hotels The State Conventions. The extraordinary amount of travel at this season has filled all the hotels in the city to overflowing. Every nlglrt latecomers are compelled to search from one end of the town to another for a bod, and often in vain. All tho hotels are aud have been for weeks past doing all tho business their establishments were Intended to trans act; and if the hotels are not large enough to accommodate all mankind, it Is not the fault of the landlords. I The Democratic State Convention takes place next Wednesday, when thero will un doubtedly be an immense crowd of strangers present, and with the present crowded state of the hotels it will become the duty of the city Democracy either to make some arrangements with the landlords to retain rooms for the delegates, or to throw open their own houses for the reception and accommodation of our friends.

We suggest that the Democracy at their Ward meetings on Saturday night take this matter under consideration, and decide upon'the propri ety of appointing a committe in each Ward to provide accommodations for the State' Convention. Only a few regulars answered to the roll call, and they so far gone In the downward path that nearly all the interest that ordinarily attaches to the individual iotas of the human race has entirely de serted them, and it is literally true of each one of those characters, that they are described in the doggerel of the street Whither he goes or how he fares, Nobody knows and nobody cares." These wretches seem to have no other resort than the station house and the chain-gang, and to those Institutions they are methodically assigned. jj lit Person ALThe, excellent an efficient Auditor of this county, Matthias Martin, Esq, has been, we regret to learn, so seriously Indisposed as to bo unable to attend to the duties of his office for several days past, and is still confined to his room by a dangerous and painful illness.
