Real Est Big Shipments Of Materials For Building 42.000 Barrels Daily Being Sent Outside of Local Market; Steel Movement Better Than in 1919 Economic stra-ws in the building con struetion indnatry are attaining a more uniform direetion, according to the current Dow Service Daily Building Re? ports.

Tha movement of basic building ma? terials in the last two weeks wipes away all doubt as to the constructionnl chnracter of 1921. In the first fifteen days of January thia year shipments Of cement out of the district supplying this market totaled 20,000 bnrrels a day. The same number of days in February developed shipments of 28, 000 barrels. The same number of days in March developed 42,000 barrels a day. The movement in structural steel is even better than it was in 1919, which ia more comparablo than was March 1920, for the identical month.

The records of the Bridge Builders and Structural Society, from reports gath ered by its secretary, George E. Gifford, shows that during the month of Feb? ruary. 1921, tons of fabricated structural steel were contracted for throughout the United States. equiva lent to 14 per cent of the entire ca? pacity ol the bridge and structural shops of the countrv. ln the tsarne month, 1919, the total was per cent, with railroads fairly active in the market.

February of last year record ed 95 per cent of capacity taken, how? ever. Common briek is passing out of re serve stocks rapidly and moving into actual construction work. Labor difiiculties in the brick yaTds are expected to develop as producers attempt to bring down manufacturing eosts by altering wage Rcales ruling last year, which, with coal at promium prices, forced brick quotations to ex cessive levels. This prospect may in terfere with brick production, so that existing stocks will not be rushed to this market early this spring without pretty definite call. There is about 200,000,000 brick on hand in manu facturers' sheds for New York require ments until July.

This quantity is far below normal reserve. Lumber suitable for home building has dropped 60 per cent from the price peak and is now only 25 per cent above the pre-war delivered prices. Sanitary tile manufacturers have turned their plant capacity on full. Invcstor Buys Orlando In West 94th Street Apartment Near Riverside Drive Reoently Purohased by the Seller Charles J.
