Graham of'Albuquerque won the greatest ovation he has ever received from a Democratic state convention when the party called upon him last -night to run once more for state treasurer.

On the roll call, Graham's nomination was seconded by each of the 31 counties. He previously served five and one- half years as state treasurer. Into the extreme southeastern section, the convention went to Carlsbad in "Eddy county to pick E. K. Neumann, Democratic leader in that section, World War veteran, and active in affairs of the New Mexico American Legion, to run on the ticket for the office of attorney general.

That the Democrats are giving a lot cf thought to attempts to wreck Ed Otero's Republican fortress in the county which never has gone Democratic, was eViaeht'by action inj the district and state conventions.

For the nomination as state corpor-1 stion commissioner, the Democrats' picked a former Republican who had had quite a bit of political say-so in Valencia county. Sanchez served a term in the house of representatives as a republican, and served two terms as V.alencia county school superintendent as a Republican. Another Democratic move to beat the Republicans at in Valencia county was the nomination of Elfego Baca, former Albuquerque Republican lawyer no.w living in Belen, for the office of district judge. Then, on. top of those indicators of Democratic moves to battle the Republicans to the end on their own ground came the fusion the In- dependent-Non-Partl2an movement in 'Bernalillo and Sandoval counties with -Democratic party.

Two years ago the Republican convention at Albuquerque welcomed El Club Politico Independente into its convention with open arms, and last the Democratic state convention welcomed the Independente-Non- Partisans into its convention with rousing cheers and introductions by George Armijo. I. Ulibarri and A. Gutierrez, addressing the convention pledged the support of the Independents to the Democratic state ticket, and there was much talk a.bout affairs of the Middle Rio Grande conservancy district. The Independents however, made no reference to whether they would support the Bernalillo county Democratic ticket.

There were three men in the delegation represented the Independent movement. The convention" closed completely harmonious, and during three days the only atmosphere of possible dissatisfaction loomed in the Sellers- Seligman race for governor. IE there were any hard feelings left there, none were apparent and many of the Bernaliilo county delegates expressed satisfaction with, their lot after Albuquerque received the nomi- iinatipns for United States Senator, congressman, and state' treasurer. Although Jim Hinlile had to be for 'land commissioner, and" jit is still not known definitely he will accept, expressions cf satisfaction. were heard' everywhere "and politically there was a belief, that.a.
