20-ThtCumberland News, Friday, May 13,1977 Pen-Mar Baseboff League Opens 29th Season On Sunday Cresaptown, Bayard Make 8-Team Circuit Eight teams will compete for the championship as the Pen-Mar Baseball League begins its, 29th year of operation with four games this Sunday at Hyndmian, Cumberland, Romney and Bayard. Romney will defend its regular season cham- pionship and playoff title by hosting Keyser on opening day while Everett plays at Hyndman, Cresaptown at Cumberland and Oakland against the Island Creek Coal Co. at Bayard. Mt. Savage will not field a team this season, but taking its place on the roster of teams are Island Creek Coal and the Potomac Valley Athletic Association of Cresaptown.

Managing their respective teams are Bill Hogan at Keyser, "Turk" Cole at Romney, Terry Helbig at Oakland. Clete Corbin and Sports Car Club Sets Two Events The Western Maryland Sports Car Club will meet this evening at 8 o'clock at Cas Taylor's Restaurant. On Sunday, the club is sponsoring a Gymkhana, a low speed event for all types of cars, at 12:30 p.m. at LaVale Plaza. Everyone is welcome to enter.

It was the slumping Mets' fourth straight loss and 10th in the last 11 games. Griffin's seventh homer of career came off loser Jerry Koosman in the seventh inning and gave the Padres a 2-0 lead.
