1. 26 PHILADELPHIA DAILY NEWS Feb. 3, 1989 Death Notices Death Notices Death Notices Mary B. Myers, a Singer More By Jim Nicholson Ave. Daily News Staff Writer Mary Bickley Myers, a former professional singer who was active in her church and community, died Tuesday.

She was 85 and lived in Hershey's Mill, Chester County. Myers sang with the big bands that used to play at the old Willow Grove Park and also made appearances at the Philadelphia Academy of Music. She had been a soloist with the First Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia. A 1921 graduate of Lansdowne High School, she attended the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and had been employed by the Clayton Realty Co. in Lansdowne.

She also had been secretary of the former Visiting Nurses Association of Eastern Delaware County, now called the Community Nursing Service. During World War II she did considerable volunteer work. She opened her home to be used as Delaware County headquarters for volunteers who made surgical dressings for the Philadelphia Naval Hospital. She was an active member of the Methodist Church during the many years she lived in Lansdowne and worked extensively with Girl Scout Troop 77. She belonged to the 20th Century Club of Lansdowne.

In 1951 she moved to Drexel Hill where she served as president of the Aronomink Women's Club. From 1970 to 1980 she resided in Wildwood Crest, N.J. Her late husband, Edgar Miller Myers, died in 1978. Survivors include a daughter, Mary Ann Keiser-Leaidicker, five grandchildren and a great-grandchild: Services will be at 11 a.m. tomorrow at the C.M.

Toppitzer Funeral Home, Garrett Road at Lansdowne Avenue, Drexel Hill, where friends may call one hour before the service. Burial will be in West Laurel Hill Cemetery, Belmont Avenue above City Line Avenue, Bala Cynwyd, Montgomery County. Contributions may be made to Dickinson College, Carlisle, Pa. 17013. John N.

Curtis Deaths James J. McAndrews James J. McAndrews, a retired Philadelphia firefighter, died Wednesday. He was 66 and lived in the Richmond section of the city. McAndrews served on the Philadelphia Fire Department 30 years.

He is survived by his wife, the former Barbara M. Biello, and two sisters, Mary Clark and Catherine Lazzarotti. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. tomorrow at Nativity B.V.M. Roman Catholic Church, Belgrade Street and Allegheny Avenue.

Burial will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Cheltenham Avenue above Easton Road, Cheltenham Township, Montgomery County. Friends may call between 7 and 9 tonight at the Reilly Funeral Home, 2632 E. Allegheny Ave. Benjamin F. Rylah Services were to be held this afternoon for Benjamin F.

Rylah, a former tool and die maker, who died Wednesday. He was 82 and lived in Havertown, Delaware County. Rylah had worked for the Boeing Vertol Co. before retiring in 1969. He had previously worked at the old American Viscose Corp.

plant in Marcus Hook. He was a member for 54 years of Ebenezer United Methodist Church in Havertown. He also belonged to the Retirees Chapter of United Auto and Aerospace Workers Local 1069, the Odd Fellows and the Tri-County Sportsmen's Association of West Chester. His late wife, the former Emma Dawson, died last year. Survivors include two daughters, Doris R.

Peabody and Madelyne R. Raksnis; two brothers, Kenneth and William Rylah; and two sisters, Dorothy Golik and Elizabeth Downey. Services were to be held at 1:30 p.m. today at the Frank C. Videon Funeral Home, Lawrence and Sproul roads, Broomall, where friends may call one hour before the service.

Burial will be in Arlington Cemetery, Lansdowne Avenue and School Lane, Drexel Hill. Contributions may be made to Ebenezer United Methodist Church, Eagle and Steel Roads, Havertown, Pa. 19083. Francis L. Martin Francis L.

Martin, a former supervisor at Atlantic Richfield died Tuesday. He was 77 and lived in Springfield, Delaware County. Martin worked for Atlantic Richfield for 42 years, retiring as a supervisor in 1973. He was a 1929 graduate of West Philadelphia High School and was captain of the track team. He received a degree in engineering from Drexel University.

He was a member of the Arco Retirees Club and a former vice president of the Arco employees union. Martin belonged to the Philadelphia Track Officials and was associated with the Penn Relays for many years. He also served as a volunteer at Metropolitan Hospital, Springfield Division.
