1. 12 PHILADELPHIA DAILY NEWS Saturday, Aug. 5, 1989 Death Notices Death Notices Witness: Teen Shows 'No Remorse' Associated Press A 16-year-old boy charged in the stabbing death of a neighbor girl shows no remorse and may be beyond rehabilitation, a prosecution witness testified yesterday. Testimony ended yesterday at a hearing to determine if Kenneth Houseknecht, of Deptford Township, should be tried as an adult in the death of 12-year-old Kim Marie Anderson. The girl was found in her home stabbed 95 times.

Superior Court Judge John L. Lindsay heard about 60 hours of testi- BAILOUT Continued from Page 5 agreeing to financing the bulk of the bailout's costs through 30-year bonds. "It should have been paid for by taxes, but the president could not bring himself to say the word," said Gibbons. "So we have fostered this unconscionable debt on our children and grandchildren." But with the losses of federally insured deposits mounting at a rate of $20 million to $30 million a day, supporters said it would be equally unconscionable for Congress to go on vacation without fixing the problem. "I for one don't want to take the chance of another bank-holiday crisis," said Rep.

Chalmers Wylie, R- Ohio, referring to the wave of bank closings at the end of the Hoover administration in early 1933 that deepened the Great Depression. "The alternatives are unthinkable," added Rep. Steve Bartlett, R- Texas. REPORT Continued from Page 5 much explaining to do that the friendship can be a He added, "I've never talked with John about this project." The inspector general's memo also alleged that: HMA plans to rely on "excessive subcontracting" for "virtually all services." HMA, a firm with "relatively modest holdings," may not be strong enough financially to handle the contract. Before HMA was able to secure a S3 million line of credit from a Maryland bank, the state deposited $3 million in the very same bank, a move the report called "unusual." HMA has a potential conflict of interest because its president, Lo- MOMOBILE Continued from Page 4 said.

Fischer said MOMobile workers will make clinic appointments for women with a cellular phone on board. Workers also will try to help women solve some of their other pressing problems. Maternity care advocates will be recruited in various neighborhoods to make sure women keep clinic appointments and are getting the care they need. Women can't miss the yellow van because of a booming sound system provided by Power 99. that will play music to draw mony over a five-day period.

The judge did not say when he would rule if Houseknecht should be tried as an adult.Houseknecht is worried about only himself, testified Dr. Kenneth A. Kool. "Rehabilitated is the wrong word it means you have to be abilitated which he never was," Kool said. "He has indicated a profound concern for his future but shown no remorse for the victim." The girl was found stabbed to "The savings of million of Americans are at stake unless we do something," Sen.

Christopher Bond, R- said just before the unusual "divison" vote in which supporters and opponents indicate their position by standing. The procedure leaves no record of who votes yes or no. But four senators stood in opposition and three others asked to be recorded as opponents. They were Sens. Bob Graham, Kent Conrad, Charles Grassley, R-lova; James Exon, D- Wendell Ford, John Warner, and Jay Rockefeller, "I think it is the best bill possible to craft under the circumstances," said Sen.

Donald Riegle chairman of the Senate Banking Committee. "It will make major reforms in every area." Bush was on the phone with House members from both parties throughout the day, according to sources, pleading for support. max, owns clinics that care for about 3,500 HealthPass patients, and HMA would be in a position to refer patients to them. Under the terms of the contract, the state would pay HMA about $134 a person in HealthPass each month, and be reimbursed 43 percent of that by the federal government. If the contract fails to win approval, the state will not be repaid the federal share for care since the new contract took effect on July 1.

Spokeswoman Smink said the Welfare Department is confident it will earn approval. "We will have to come back and back up our response with evidence and documentation. Then, hopefully, we can get this contract approved. "The bottom line is that this program has been operated by HMA since July and we have received one complaint. Things are going along very well," she said.

Chandra Hicks, 25, who is six months' pregnant, looked at the crowd of people, including Mayor Goode, on hand for the festivities and praised the concept. But Hicks was hard on those she knew who weren't taking advantage of the help being offered. "A lot of people should be down here that's not," said Hicks, who has two children. "I think that they just don't want to get it. Some of these women are SO busy chasing drugs around the neighborhood that they don't worry about their bodies.

That's a fact," Hicks said. "We need strong babies born out here instead of babies born on death in her home in April 1988. Houseknecht, who was 14 at the time, was arrested a day after the girl's body was found. He has since been held at the Clarksboro Juvenile Detention Center. Investigators say the girl caught Houseknecht ransacking her home.

Houseknecht said he remembered scuffling with the girl and stabbing her hands to break free, but does not recall any details about the incident, according to documents presented at the hearing. Gunshots Injure Pair in W. Phila. A 24-year-old woman and a 12-yearold boy were wounded during an apparent drive-by shooting as they stood on a West Philadelphia street last night, police said. The woman was in guarded condition at Misericordia Medical Center early this morning.

Police said a bullet tore through her back and exited through her chest. The shooting occurred about 10 p.m. on Dearborn Street near Market, police said. The boy was in stable condition at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia with a wound of the groin area. Police were withholding the victims' identities until their families have been notified.

Three spent shell casings, apparently from a weapon, were recovered at the scene. Police, who say they haven't determined a motive for the shooting, said the shots might have been fired from a small, blue hatchback car.
