Burned. PAKIS. August dispatch from Gabrova says that according to report received there the Turks have burned the hospital at Eski Snghra, which contained 800 inmates. SIXTY KILLED AND WOUNDED. The Independent invttei the attenlvm of liumness men to its superior facilities for executing Job Work at reasonable St. Louis Typographical Union lias been dissolved. KOT one ot the twenty-three railroads in Missouri paid a dividend last year. THE Georgia Constitutional Convention has made lobbying a crime.

This shows that Georgia is making more rapid strides in reform than any of her sister States, GENERAL CROOK has been appointed a commissioner to induce Sitting Bull to return to the United States. lie should be empowered to slaughter, not to treat with the Indians. THE New York Journal of Commerce estimates the cost of the late railroad strikes to the whole country at $20,000,000. That shows that strikes are expensive and fall alike on the poor and the rich. IT is said that ex-Governor Moses of South Carolina will turn States evidence against the nng.

If he does there will be many ugly facts brought to light, and some garments that are supposed to be clean will be found badly soiled upon close inspection. THE Agricultural Bureau announces that we shall be able to export ten million bushels more of wheat this year than ever before. 1 his betokens good crops all over the country. It is further stated that California alone of all the wheat-producing of our country, has inferior crops. MK.

SITTING BULL having got upon British soil is disposed to stay there. The people of Montana would like to have him stay there, but the Cabinet nt Washington seems determined to bring him back if possible. For what purpose they want him and his gang of murderers we cannot imagine. THE latest from the sent of war is more favorable than the first report, yet when we contemplate that every third man of the little band was either killed or wounded, we must confess that the battlu was among the most desperate fought in modern times, and, save the Custer fight, the most bloody on record, taking into consideration the slaughter on both sides. General Gibbon and his little command have accomplished wonders-- badly whipped a superior force of well drilled and well Brined Indians in a fair fight.

General Howard has it now in his power to follow The Indians did not all Leave for two Days After the Battle. DEEK LODOK, Aug. from Gen. Gibbon arrived litre at in. with dispatches of snjing that i bon's supply train anil camp were not captured as first reported.

There was no righting after the first day's battle. Gib boa's losses are: Killed--Capt. scout Bostwiek and 17 ir.mi and five citizens wounded. The wounded are Gen. Gibbon, Capt.

Williams, Lieutenants Coolege, Woodruff, and English; the latter seriously, besides thirty six and citizens. Indians suffered severely, as forty dead were counted in about one half the battle field. Howard had arrived and would pursue the Indians as soon as his command arrived. Gen Gibbon would move to Deer Lodge and take his wounded to Ft Shaw as soon as medical aid apd transportation arrived. The Ind'ans had disanear- ed, in which direction is not yet learned.

WASHINGTON, August from Gen. McDowell state that dispatches from Gen. Howard confirm the press ic- ports of Gibbon's fight with the Indians. Howard arrived there on the 12th and says that the supplies are not cut off, and that Gibbon's command is in the best health and spirits, that the last of the Indians left on the night of the llth, and that he (Howard) will continue iu pursuit us soon as his command of four companies of Cavalry, under Col. Sanford, comes up with him.

CHICAGO, August following dispatch was received at military headquarters to day: Bis HOLE PASS, August loss in the battle of the Oth was 7 officers and 53 men killed and wounded, i am satisfied tbe Indians suffered much more, for the surprise was complete, and many were killed in the tepees or while i out of them. Forty dead Indians were counted on about one-half of the battle field. Howard has just arrived, and I believe he can catch them again as soon as his command arrives. When I get the services of a doctor I propose to move to Deer Lodge and take most of fcr wounded from their to Shaw. They are all doing well but I fear Lieut.

English is mortally wounded. (Signed) GIBBON, Comd'g. THE cause of the strikes has been discovered by a preacher. His mime is Moore and he hails from Pittsburgh, Pennsjlva- nia. He says that "it is a visitation of God upon the railroads for i on Sunday." That settles the mutter, and all discussion as to the cause of the strike will end at once.

The news from San Francisco indicates that the prominent Chinamen of the Pacific coast have been brought to a realizing sense of the danger that threatens the continuance of the coolie traffic, and seem to be earnest in their efforts to aid in suppressing it. It is a growing evil and can be handled more successfully now than at any future time. The labor markets of America are overcrowded with white labor and this fact intensifies the hatred toward the Chinese. Neither lives nor property will long be safe if some effort is not put forth to stay the mighty flood of immigration that rolls so rapidly toward our western shores. Tbe plan suggested by the committee that waited upon Senator Morton, or some s'milar one, would no doubt aleviate the evil, and in time extirpate it entirely.

If only actual emigrants were permitted to come here the number would be small. Abolish the Coolie system of treaty and the complaint agiiiust Mongolians would soon die out. It is to be hoped that now since tllu Chinese masters have tuken the matter in hand, that our government i give them helping-hand and settle in a sociable manner question that promises to be fraught grave results nt nn distant day if left to take its Until)nl courbu. The recent action of many of the pnimiuent manufacturers iu California in discharging Chinese in response to nn an almost universal du.nand, has no doubt opened the eyes of the sUve importers to the danger tl.at they are bringing ing upon themselves and their property. If their fares weie paid to their native land there nre thousands thnt would avail themselves of the opportunity to return, as they now begin to see that their presence here will cause them much trouble iu the not remote future.

Legislation cau be effected that will be satisfactory to both governments as well as beneficial to both. China does not want to lose her citizens, and even now throws obstacles in the way of emigration by prohibiting a man from bringing his family to America, and on the other hand our people arc only too glul to see the face of John no more. law can be deviled that will force those here to leave, soon as employment was generally denied them ttiey would be com pell cd to go elsewhere, and In a short time the effect of those that were left would not be SPAPFRf would rench them there.
