Born July 29, 1895, in the Dundee area, he was the son of William and Carrie (Radloff) Miller. He resided in the Dundee area all his life and worked as a carpenter. He was a member of the First Congregational Church of West Dundee for more than 50 years. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Ted (Mary) Eichler of Sleepy Hollow; one granddaughter, Marybeth Adler; and two great grandchildren.

30, in Sherman Hospital, Elgin. He was born June 30, 1922, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, the son of Arthur M. and Edna (McNeil) Sherman. He was a resident of Elgin most of his life and had owned the Sherman Exclusive Cleaners. Before retiring, he had worked as a system analyzer for Furnas Electric, Batavia.

Mr. Sherman had served in the U.S. Merchant Marines during World War II and was injured in the Normandy invasion. He was past president of the Bartlett Lion's Club and also belonged to the North End. Businessman's Association.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy of Elgin; four daughters, Mrs. Gerald (Linda) Rotundo and two sisters; Services were Monday in the Services will be at 1 p.m. today, Jan. 3, in the Schmidt Funeral Home, West Dundee, with the Rev. Charles Randle officiating.

Burial will be in the Dundee Township East Cemetery. A memorial service will be at 7:30 p.m. today, Jan. 3, in the First Congregational Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Congregational LAFAYETTE McCAMMON Lafayette McCammon, 57, of South Elgin, died Friday, Dec.

30, at St. Joseph Hospital, Elgin. He was born Feb. 24, 1926, in Terre Haute, the son of Lafayette and Gladys (Schatz) McCammon. He lived in the South Elgin area most of his life.

CARL ENGEL CARL ENGEL Carl F. Engel, 76, of Elgin, died Monday, Jan. 2, at his home. He was born Aug. 30, 1907, in northeast Pennsylvania, the son of Frank Saloma (Horning) Engel.

He had been a resident of Elgin for the past six years. Prior to arriving in the local area, Mr. Engel had farmed in the northeast and Findley Lake, N.Y., areas and also owned the Engel Department Store in Findley Lake, N.Y., before retiring. He attended the Faith United Church of Elgin. Survivors include a daughter, Carole Higley of Elgin; a son, Timothy Engel of Treasure Island, five grandchildren; and a sister, Thelma Smith of Florida.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and a brother. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 4, in the Faith United Methodist Church, Elgin, with the Rev. E.

Dale Kleinschmidt officiating. Burial will be in northeastern Pennsylvania. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be made to the Fox Valley Hospice, St. Charles, or Family Service Association of the Greater Elgin Area, Elgin.

15, 1909, in Train derails KIRKLAND, Ill. (UPI) Twenty-three cars of the 120-car Milwaukee Railroad train derailed, causing extensive damage to the train, but no injuries, officials said Monday. A spokesman at the DeKalb County Sheriff's office said the partial derailment occurred Sunday at 7:30 p.m., east of Kirkland. A snowstorm earlier Sunday dumped up to 4 inches of snow in the area but it was not snowing at the time of the accident, the sheriff's spokesman said. 4, at the funeral home. ANTHONY GOLFO Anthony Golfo, 60, of South Elgin, died Saturday, Dec. 31, in his home. He was born July 13, 1923, in Spring Valley, the son of Joseph and Wanda (Fabrick) Golfo. He had been a resident of South Elgin for most of his life and had been employed for over 30 years by the Artistic Carton Elgin.

He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Marines. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Elgin, and was past president of the Lion's Club of South Elgin. He also had been a member of the American Legion Post 57.

Survivors include a wife, Margaret (Boan) Golfo; two daughters, Kathleen Golfo of Elgin and Mrs. Anthony (Nancy) Follis; two grandchildren; his mother, Wanda, of South Elgin; a brother, Joseph of South Elgin; and a sister, Ann McFadden of Spring Valley. He was preceded in death by his father. Services will be at 9:45 a.m. Wednesday, Jan.
