By d'Alessio 12 Monday, Feb. 11, 1952 Door County Resident Dies Herbert Peterson, 77, Was Banker, Merchant, Orchardman, Senator Special to Press-Gazette STURGEON BAY, Wis. Herbert L. Peterson, 77. prominent Door county resident, of Sturgeon Bay, route 4, died at his home at 4:30 p.

m. Saturday. He had been ill for the past year and a half. Born May 16, 1874, at Clay Banks, Mr. Peterson married Phyllis Wright at Minneapolis.

He was a fruit farmer, merchant, manufacturer and banker, and served as a state senator from 1917 to 1921. Mr. Peterson was instrumental in organizing the Universal Shipbuilding company, now the Sturgeon Bay Shipbuilding and Drydock company. He helped bring the Van Camp Milk company to Door county, and was president of the Door County State bank. In recent years he owned and operated an apple and cherry orchard, and a tourist resort.

Rites Tuesday For Thora Thompsen Special to Press-Gazette GILLETT, Wis. Miss Thora Thompsen, 77, town of Green Valley, died Saturday morning at the Oconto Falls hospital after a two years illness.

Miss Thompsen was born April 2, 1874, in Green Bay. At the age of years she moved to De Pere with her parents, where she lived until 1927 when she moved to the town of Green Valley. of the town of Green Valley, Mrs. Survivors are two sisters, Gena John Corrigan of Lena and one brother, Otto Thompsen of Del Pere. Funeral services will be held at the Bethel Lutheran church, of which she was a member, at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon with the Rev.
