Evening, April 20, 1926. VOTE FOR STECK QUEEREST EVER CAST IN SENATE. SAYS STEWART BY CHARLES P. STEWART NE.A Service Writer Daniel F. Steel SHINGTON--On the question whether Smith W.

Brookhart, of Iowa should sent in the United States or give it up to Daniel F. Steck--Steek won -some of the queerest votes were cast that the oldest hangeron around the Capitol can remember. Reed of Missouri voted for Brookhart, but Reed's a notorious democratic insurgent and Brookhart his kind of a senator, regardiess of his party label. Reed of Pennsylvania, however? And his colleague, Pepper? Republicans, yes, but as regular AS two clocks, and with no more in common with Brookhart's kind of republicanism than they have Trotsky's. They cast Brookhart votes. And, of all senators, Reed Smoot: only but reaction-not to his conservative, plunked for ary, Brookhart when his name was called.
