TRIVIA TIME: What is the NFL record for most points by both teams in a game? Answer below. COLLEGE BASKETBALL DOGS GET COMMITMENTS: One of the nation's most highly rated junior college players has committed to Mississippi State. Kei Madison, a 6-foot-9, 215-pound forward from Okaloosa-Walton Community College in Niceville, plans to make his decision official when the early signing period begins Nov. 14. Streets Smith's college basketball preview lists Madison as one of the country's top five sophomores.

Madison, of Columbiana, chose the Bulldogs over Cincinnati. "Kei is very athletic and plays hard," OWCC coach Bruce Stewart said. "He handles the ball well, can score from 1 5 feet in and has good hands." MSU also has a commitment from Stephen Cowherd, a 6-2, 180-pound point guard from Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla. Cowherd averaged 23.7 points and 6.2 assists last season for the Eagles, 18-11. South Florida and North Carolina State also were interested.

"Stephen is very intelligent, very hard-nosed and an excellent 3-point shooter," Stoneman Douglas coach Mike Benanti said. "He's just kind of an old-fashioned player who makes the right decisions." MSU also has a commitment from Samuel Richardson, a 6-5 guard from Hinds AHS. BULLDOGS TO SCRIMMAGE: Mississippi State basketball fans will have an opportunity to check out coach Rick Stansbury's 2001-02 squad Saturday at Humphrey Coliseum at 3 p.m. The free intrasquad scrimmage is open to the public. There will be an autograph session after the scrimmage.
