Also, in the book is advice on how to tame the taste of the wildest game. Hale sells basting seasoning mix and the cookbook. Cookbooks are $10.95, each and seasoning is $4.95 per packet. Another school, Hinds Junior College, has published a cookbook, Discover It All, which features appetizers, beverages, breads, soup, salad, vegetables, meatseafood, poultry, microwave, desserts, household hints, and recipes by Alice Walker. Proceeds from the book are used for a scholarship for children of Hinds Junior College District faculty and staff members.

The book is dedicated to Mrs. Alice Walker, well known in the Jackson area. "This is a tribute to one of the world's greatest cooks," the cookbook notes. The books sell for $7.50 and be purchased by contacting the colleges in the district. Workers at Movie Star Company in Ellisville have compiled their favorite recipes into the book entitled Movie Star Cooks.

The recipes in that book were designed for working women, and all have been tried. Proceeds from the cookbook funds the plants Christmas party. Copies are available for $3.50 per copy. For copies, write to Movie Star, 1518 Monroe Ellisville, Miss. Representative from Movie Star shared this recipe: Forty-Niners 1 (1 lb.) box light brown sugar.

2 cups biscuit mix. 4 eggs, well beaten. 2 cups chopped pecans. Combine all ingredients and blend well. Pour into greased and floured 13x9 pan.

Festival goers had a hard time choosing which cookbook to add to their collections, but one that got a lot of attention was the cookbook Down here, men don cook, a cookbook by Mississippi men.

The book was edited by Linda Ross Aldy and Carol Taf after Commissioner of Agriculture Jim Buck Ross made that comment during a news conference when he was giving vice-presidential candidate Geraldine Ferarro a tour of a local blueberry farm According to Aldy, the comment made many women furious, and she and Taf set out to prove him wrong. The cookbook is chalked full of recipes from some of Mississippi's famous men, as well as not-so-famous ones. All the recipes are by men except one, which is Geraldine Ferarro's Blueberry Muffin recipe the one that started the whole argument Ross also contributed a recipe to the book. A must Christmas gift for the liberated men on shoppers' lists, the book sells for $8.95 plus tax and is available by mail order for $10.74, which includes shipping. 0. Box 4406, Jackson, Miss. 39216. Representatives of the Junior League were on hand with their ever-popular cookbook Southern Sideboards. The book has been chosen as the number five bestseller in American in the regional cookbook category.

Proceeds from the cookbook will be used for Junior League Projects. League members recently committed themselves to building a new children's cancer wing at the University Medical Center. The cookbook sells for $12 and is available in most bookstores across the region and at the league office, 805 Riverside, Jacksoa Judging from the goodies on exhibit by the Magnolia Bible College Association members, Kosciusko has many good cooks. The cookbook More Magnolia Mixin'bas so many good recipes it's hard to choose which one to try first. One sample on display that no one could seem to get enough of was "Honey Graham Treats." The ladies said they compiled the recipes because they wanted to share their good recipes with others with powdered sugar.

Members of the Jackson Symphony League displayed their cookbook, Taste of the South. The book has some great recipes for entertaining, including everything from prom parties to evening cocktails. Copies of the book sell for $17.95 and may be purchased at the symphony office or by calling 960-1565. The 3 year-old South Jackson Civic League cookbook, Hospitality Heirlooms, featuring watercolor pictures by noted artist Wyatt Waters and recipes by some of south Jackson's best cooks, was also on display. Proceeds from the cookbook will go toward ongoing league projects, including scholarships, the Ronald McDonald House, the Mustard Seed Foundation and Ellisville State School.

Members of the Mississippi State Bluegrass Association were not providing the entertainment for the event, but instead were showing off their cookbook, Sharing Our Best The organization promotes blue-grass and gospel music, and the proceeds from the sale of the book are used for this cause. Books are $6. Members of The Telephone Pioneers of America were on hand to sell their tried and true cookbooks Bell Best and Bell's Best 2. The books are on sale from Pioneer members for $5 each.

Calvary Baptist Church, 1400 Robinson decided to pass their heritage of cooking on through the medium of a cookbook. Their book boasts of recipes from some of Jackson and the south's finest black cooks.

The book has been featured at heritage festivals in Chicago, 111., and Detroit, Mich. Mrs. Lenora Cameron says copies of the cookbook can be found in homes as far away as California. Kraft Foods has featured some of the recipes from the book in its heritage series of cook booklets. The books cost $10 and can be purchased by stopping by the church or by calling 352-8585 or Mrs.

Jeff Ellis, 153 Winged Foot Circle, is of basic Southern architectural design with covered gallery in front and rear. Highlights of the home include a wood parquet floor and raised panel wainscot in the entrance foyer, a mantlepiece of Louis XV marble in the living room and raised oak paneled cabinets in the kitchen and family dining room. Furnishings throughout the home include Chippendale, Sheraton, Louis XV and Queen Anne. The home of Mr. and Mrs.

John E. Pittman, 4714 Calnita Place, is of gold stucco and brick. Architectural features include rooms at 45 degree angles, giving an openess desired by Mrs. Pittman, and a raised counter-level hearth with an arched fireplace. Examples of Mrs.

Pittman's work of tiles, pottery and other ceramic items are throughout the house. Antique furnishings include clocks and Oriental rugs. The Northeast Jackson home of Dr. and Mrs. Thomas J.

Herrin, 170 Winged Foot Circle, is in a Lousiana Planatation style. Features of the home include antique white columns along the front porch and 150 year-old pine floors, saved from an old school house. Decorative features of the home include a collection of wooden nut crackers, two stories of leaded glass windows, French doors throughout the home and an antique schoolmaster's desk, made by her mother's maternal grandfather. The old-brick French style home of Mrs. T.

Kabbes, 4028 Old Canton Road, was built in 1939 and was restored in 1984. Much of the original wood and brick was kept Features of the house include two large front bay windows, an ornate cast iron trellis and a curved stairway. Highlights include three mantels. One, an ornately carved one in the visiting kitchen, came from Hasley's Court, Oxfordshire, England. Another came from Natchez, and the third came from the old Monte-leone Hotel in New Orleans.

The $5 tickets may be purchased at the door of the homes on the tour or from Mrs. Eliza Hewitt at 956-615 A 'Lottie to be presented here (Lottie's sister who, incidentally, was the first of the two sisters to go to China as a missionary); Greg Kinsley as Andrew (Lottie's fiance); and Steve Ains-worth as Pastor Li (the Chinese pastor who worked with with Lottie). Other cast members include Marcia Harrigill, Mike Irby and several children from the church. "Lottie is directed by Mrs. Lucy Rives.

The public is invited to attend this performance at Alta Woods Baptist Church, 168 Colonial Drive. Admission is free. The Recreation Ministry of Alta Woods Baptist Church will present the drama, "Lottie on Sunday, Dec. 7, at 6 p. m.

in the Sanctuary. The musical drama depicts the life of Lottie Moon, Southern Baptist missionary to China from 1873-1912. It brings to the audience insight into the dynamic personality of this courageous woman, and a better understanding of the mission work she established in a foreign land. Luke's gains church status helped to establish a new church, became its pastor and has since been active as a church planter, evangelist and pastor. He has traveled widely, conducting preaching and teaching missions and promoting church renewal. He is the author and publisher of two books. The public is invited to come and share this time of celebration with the members of St Luke's. A reception wj be held after the service.

I St Luke's Presbyterian Mission is now St. Luke's Presbyterian Church USA. Members of the new congregation will celebrate their church status during a formal commissioning service Sunday, Dec. 7, at 3:30 p. m.

The location for the service is 405 Beasley Road, (four blocks from Callaway High School). Dr. Frank Oliver DuCille Sr. of Charlotte, N. will be the guest speaker, A native of Jamaica, Dr.

DuCille became a lay evangelist in 1948 and in 1953.
