There are thousands of "bad" things we don't think would happen to us until we wake up one day and realize they have. The hard reality is that we are all capable of falling into "sin" and doing things we said we would "never" do.

The Bible is pretty clear about what we are capable of when we rely on ourselves. Thankfully, God desires what's best for us and is always willing to help us. He desires for us to stay out of messes before we get in over our heads. If we would just trust Him and not be so stubborn, then we would be much better off. What's your weakness or Achilles heel, so to speak? Do you let fear hold you back from living out your dreams, or do you tend to overestimate your ability to fight off temptation and often find yourself in those "I never situations? Here are three suggestions and quotes that some- one shared with me that I want to pass on to you: Ninety percent of the things you worry about never happen.

What good did it do to spend all that energy trying to avoid failure and pain? Why not take that same energy and apply it to reaching your goals and dreams? You change between your ears. What you think about all day influences what you do and become. Listen to some Earl Nightingale. He will tell you all about that. See also Romans 12: 1-2 in the New Testament.

"The will of God will never lead you where the grace of God cannot sustain you." Trust Him. He is quite fond of you and will see you through every situation. Scotty Rogers is the minister to children at First Baptist Church of Clinton. Faith-based guest columns may be submitted to date? What's holding you back? Part of the problem is we often live life by playing it safe, avoiding risk and failure. Many of us go through life never living up to our fullest potential.

However, there are some of you who got tired of the status quo and decided to do something different. You decided that enough is enough and started making your dreams a reality. Way to go! Why wait until you are diagnosed with a terminal illness? Why wait until you lose your job? Why wait until there is some sort of crisis or tragedy? As the Thomas Jefferson saying goes, "Why put off until tomorrow what you can do today?" There is another side of the coin to consider regarding doing more than we estimate. It's that "I would never do that" list of things: the irrational, harsh, cruel, illegal and inappropriate or totally out of character things we don't like to think about doing. For example, you believe you would never work for a company that sells a product or service that opposes your Holy Savior Catholic Church WEEKEND MASS SCHEDULE Pocahontas Baptist Gfcarch 4200 Kickapoo Road Jackson, MS 982-2305 Sunday School 9:15 a.m.

Answer: Although that question does not relate directly to anything in scripture, it does perhaps deserve an answer. This column has appeared weekly in the Clarion-Ledger for over nine years. During that time all articles have been written by Leonard White, preacher (and one of the elders) of the McRaven Road Church of Christ in Clinton. I have not included my name with the article in the past out of a desire to focus attention not on some person but, as the title says, on what the scriptures have to say. Those of you who have been regular readers will know that each week the answers given to the questions asked include direct quotations from the Bible.

As is to be expected, not all feedback from readers is positive, but it is surprising to sometimes have someone disagree or even take offense at an article when that article consisted almost entirely of statements taken directly from scripture. We do solicit response from our readers, and such is received from time to time. Those who choose to identify themselves are given a courteous and personal reply. This column is intended to inform and not to offend. However we know that Jesus always spoke the truth in love, and yet some were offended by that (John 6:61) Leonard White I A Adult Bible Study p.m.
