PUPILS PAY TRIBUTE TO MEMORY OF TEACHER Webb City, Oct. in all the schools paused in their recitations for three minutes at ::30 o'clock this afternoon in silent tribute to Miss Edith Loo Harding, third grade teacher of the Eugeno Field school, who died Sunday morning at Freeman hospital, Joplin, following an emergency operation. Funeral services were held this afternoon at Miss Harding's home at Gentry, where her body was taken yesterday. As further tribute, flowers were sent by her pupils, the teachpre, school board, Parent-Tencher associations and individuals, here. Toorge E.

Investigation is being made here this week by representatives of the national bureau of child labor to determine the number of minors who are working and not attending school, The investigators are to be in the city the rest of the week. No irregularities have been found in any of the factories and store buildings here, it is said. A census is being taken of boys and girls not attending school.

Many boys were found working regularly after school hours. The inspectors explain to employers the conditions under which a school boy under 16 years old may work. Baxter Child Buried. Baxter Springs, Oct. Funeral services for Glenn Helton, son of Mr.

Accident Victim Improves. Picher, Oct. condition of Leslie Briggs of. Gulena. who was injured in a motor car accident north of Picher yesterday morning, is improved.

City Parent-Teacher Assoelation Receives Appents for Ald. Webb City, Oct. appeals have been made by destituto familics for, old clothing so their children may attend school during cold weather, it was ported at a meeting of the general council of the Parent-Teacher Association this afternoon. The general council is making A collection of old clothing this week. Several bundles have been received, it was sald, but, more will be needed.

The calls for clothing were increased by last week's weather, Plans were laid for conducting a membership drive this month. Itforts will be mude to obtain at lenst 1,000 members. The canpnign is to be conducted by the vice presidents of the different ward school associations. LARGE CROWD HEARS KU KLUX KLAN CONCERT Carterville. Oct.

Streets for several blocks leading to the intersection were crowded with people and motor cOra. Talks were given by several robed speakers at intermissions of the concert. 25 Arrests at Galenn. Galena. Oct. arrests were made by the Galena officers during the month of September, and $432 In fines was collected in police court, according to a report issued by Chief of Police Bert Elliott. of the arrests, ten were for drunkenness, two for speeding, two for peace disturbance and one for driving a motor car while Intoxicated.

The Galena fire department made only one run the entire month. Democratlo Meeting Postponed. Galena, Oct. meeting to have been held at the city hall Wednesday night, at which time Thurman Hill, democratic candidate for congress, was to speak, has been postponed, it wa sanhas been postponed, it was ancratic party leaders. The meeting was postponed on account of the union revival campaign being conducted by the Galena churches.
