PHILADELPHIA DAILY NEWS THURSDAY, MARCH 9, 1912 39 We Have Our Own Howard Hughes Charles fe Petzold I non, a staffer at St. Lawrence U. in Canton, N. Y. Cannon continues to solicit information from Philadelphians who knew Savitt, who also was music director at VVCAU and KYW and helmed his own band prior to his passing in 1949 Former Playhouse in the Park drumbeater Jules Tasca's new play, "Composition in Black and Blue," will be staged March April 14 at Pheasant Run Playhouse in St.

The show's headliner is the new look Phyllis Diller Former Mike Douglas usher Jay Grossman, now associated with the new ABC-TV game show "Split Second," dropped by the Douglas show the other day and ran into a personnel shortage. You guessed it. He was pressed into service as an usher. SILENT TREATMENT: Still no word from Miss Vicki.

the estranged wife of the flower of show biz, Tiny Tim. Makes you wonder what she may be hiding. "I feel sorry for her parents," says Tiny, who has professed shock over semi-nude pictures he claims to have seen of Miss Vicki, who aspires to a modeling career. "I hope this doesn't turn into a messy situation because her father (Allen H. Budinger of Haddonfield) has a bad heart." "And nobody seems to care about that," confirmed Budinger, whose phone has been ringing constantly since the break-up of the storybook couple was first disclosed Monday by the Daily News.

"It's all I can do to maintain my cool." Ralph Goldman, Miss Vicki's New York attorney, has defended her right to earn her own money, especially since Tiny claims he is almost broke and in debt. But Tiny doesn't like it. He feels the situation is bad for their 10-month-old daughter. Tulip Victoria. "This can't help bur affect the child," said Tiny.

"Where is the steadiness in the home?" Tiny's spirit has been weakened by the split. Yet he insists he still loves Miss Vickf and would welcome her back, either now or 20 years hence. "I believe in kindness, gentility and faithfulness," he said. "She may never come back. But I'll pray for my angel darling wherever she is.

I only hope she is well." NAMES AND NEWS: Pat Hingle, the aspiring chief executive in "The Selling of the President," is supposed to be a Nebraska farm boy in the show. And it isn't far from the truth. Hingle really is a country boy. He was raised on a Colorado farm, where his chores included milking the cows. "There's nothing can tie a man down like a cow, not even his wife or his children," claims Pat.

"If a cow doesn't get milked when she wants to get milked, nobody gets any sleep." PEOPLE AND PLACES: Spectrum switchboard operator Linda Boyle, whose dad Tom Boyle is director of ushers in the South Philadelphia showplace, is engaged to localite Joe Train-or. Wi 6-0TOO Under 12 Free Heaters Show Starts 7 P.AA. 1 SOMETIMES A GREAT 2 PLAY MISTY FOR ME KOTION By FRANKLIN ROBERTS Yesterday in his column, Charles Petzold took the producers of "The Selling of the President" (of which I am one) to task for not following his casting suggestions his wandering premise larded with a total of 16J bold type celebrity suggestions in boldface type. His was a Cassandra-like prediction "that unless something radical is done and done fast The Selling of the President could turn out to be as dismal a flop as a rubber check." Mr. Petzold is reviewing a version of our show that exists only within the confines of his own mind. He states that it is "supposed to be a broad satire." Where ever did he get that idea? Heaven knows.

Not from our script nor our publicity, advertisements nor any statement from anyone connected with the show. Incidentally, I'll leave it to one and all to decide if it is within the precincts of a "show biz" columnist to review a show now in its second week at the Shubert Theatre." The News has, on an opposite page, Mr. Jonathan Takiff, a perfectly competent critic, one who has already stated his views. According to the best in newspaper tradition they reflect the views of the paper. Might I suggest that instead of dwelling in his theatrical dream world, Mr.

Petzold fixes his attention on what is happening in the real world, in this case at the Shubert Theatre where for long hours every day a team of professionals has been perfecting a show and where six evenings and two matinees, audiences of increasing size have been applauding "The Selling of the President."
