Thursday at the funeral home. Mr. Smith was a Eupora native, living in Smith, 81, a retired of pneumonia Mon- Smith Smith Jackson for the past 53 years. He was a member of the Legion of the Moose Lodge. He built and operated the Jackson International Speedway, the third race track that he had owned in Hinds County.

He was also owner and operator of Speedway Trailer Park. Mr. Smith was also the operator of Mississippi Highway Patrol fishing lake. He enjoyed flying his planes and was a member of the Civil Air Patrol. Supreme Court Justice Dan Lee often flew with Mr.

Smith and was a good friend. "I'm proud to have been his friend," Lee said. "I will miss him very much." Mr. Smith was a member of Itta Bena Baptist Church. He is survived by his caregivers, Martha Langford and Stephanie Elkins, both of Clinton.

Mrs. Langford said "Mr. Smith did everything. He was a workaholic. Banks was a Neshoba County native and longtime Jackson resident, moving to Philadelphia in 1990. Mr. Banks served as president of the State Employees Credit Union. He also served in the National Guard. He was a Methodist faith.

After the service, there will be a Commerative Open House to honor this truly unique and extrodianary woman. the open house will be at The Good Samaritan Center, 114 Milsaps Avenue, Jackson. Dee was a native of Baltimore, Maryland and a 1954 honor graduate of RIV0891 Southern High School. She initially attended Western Maryland College and then set aside her education for 20 years to become a full time mother, i.e.: a domestic engineer.

She graduated from the University of Florida in 1978 with a major in Sociology; that year, she was the only member of the graduating class with five children. Upon graduation she began her career in social work at the Gainesville Community Ministries in Gainesville, Florida. She moved with her family to Jackson in 1980 and in 1982 assumed the position as executive director of The Good Samaritan Center. When she began her work at The Good Samaritan Center, a small social service organization, she worked part time an had but one employee. Because of her hard work, perseverance, dedication, and vision there are now three offices in three different cities Jackson, Laurel and Hattiesburg).

The organization that she boil employs over sixty people, assists families and individuals in 18 counties and is supported by over thirty churches. The organization offers numerous emergency assistance programs, including intervention, clothing closets, food pantries, First Offender misdemeanant counseling, the Family Crisis and Haven shelters, and the Laurel Soup Kitchen. At the time of her death, plans were in progress to open The Little Samaritan Child Care Center for children of homeless and low income families. Richard turner, Ill, Good samaritan board president, said I worked with Dee at Good Samantan for many years and knew her well. She was a very mique person compassionate and caring, who had the utmost concern for the welfare of the unfortunate people living on the edge of our society.

She never bogged down in sentimentality. She created and allocated our limited resources to those most need with fairness, innovation, unselfishness, without fears, and sometimes without pay. She spent her heart and soul fighting for these people on the edge. I will miss Dee more than anyone will know. She is Dee loved spending time with her family and traveling with her husband.

She enjoyed visiting the bowling, and reading mystery novels. "Dee was an incredible and loving mother to our five children: said her husband of 42 years, Dr. William "Bill" Clem. "She was an amazingly, unselfish and patient person who spent much of her life helping others while, somehow finding the time and energy for our family." Additional survivors include: daughters Connie Kilgore and Cindy Clem of Hattiesburg, Kathy and Karen Clem of Jackson, son Matthew Clem of Jackson, granddaughter Chelsea Kilgore, of Hatties burg and sisters Evelyn Galvin and Marlyn Wyatt of Marlyn, and Ruth Tagtow of Laurel. in lies of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Good Samaritan Center.

Charity Maurine Graves Wade, 91, a homemaker, died of heart failure Sunday at Summitt Medical Center.
