$68,562 Deming Baker Deming Water 99,99 Pure Government Test THE MIMBRES VALLEY OF THE PRESENT TIME Prairie Lands Fast Changing to Smiling Fields and Gardens EVERYTHING MOVING Transformation a Delight to the Old- and NewComer Alike. The Mimbres Valley is today one of the marvels of the irrigation age. People are coming from every section of the union and if there is one single person who is not more than pleased we have not heard them express an opinion. Fact is they are just dee-lighted and are doing all in their power to bring their best friends here. The transformation has been little less than a World marvel.

Three years ago the country was bare prairie and today beautiful fields and comfortable homes are seen in every direction, not little 8x12 shacks, but fine modern handsome dwellings. Electric wires are stretching over the plains, carrying the fluid that pumps water onto the earth that yields a thousand fold. Gasoline and crude oil engines of great power are performing the same good office in making the desert do the rose act. Where a farmer had five acres in cultivation last year he is enlarging the area to 20. 30 or 40 this year and the same proportion holds good where larger areas are concerned.

Fine highways are being constructed by the state, county and by individuals. Fruit trees are being purchased by the thousands and canning factories are interesting the progressive farmers. What would have been done to a man who attempted to organize a farmers' institute two years ago? Echo answers "What." The GRAPHIC was very much interested in a statement made by Jas. Tracey, one of the old-time residents of the valley. Among other things he said: That big row of agricultural implements over in front of Joe Mahoney's reminds one of what a curiosity they used to be here a few years ago.

We never had any use for them until recently and now we are using nothing but the best made. "A few years ago a wagon track on a country road was not disturbed once a month, but now it is different. Wife and I have counted the loaded farm wagons. carriages and automobiles going by our ranch home south of the city and there is not a day that the number does not reach 30 or 40. "It makes us all feel that the country is coming at 2 fast pace.

We old-timers are glad of it." And Deming is making good in every way in keeping with the progress of the country. Deming Wonder of the Irrigated World. It must be granted that the little town of Deming lays it all over every other community in the southwest when it comes to effective newspaper advertising. The series of page ads that have been running in the El Paso Herald are absolutely the finest goods that have ever been produced. Reading them, and they are only a part of the system, it is no mystery that the development of the Deming country is one of the Wonders of the irrigated world.

There are other sections of the southwest every bit as good, but they don't realize that the rest of the world don't know it, just like the fellow who winked at a pretty girl in the dark, tho, of course, she didn't know it. Deming is letting the world know- and profiting immensely by it. Roswell RegisterTribune. Redmen's Ball -Crystal -Feb. 220 Have you attended the big revival yet? If not, why not? THE DEMING GRAPHIC.

G. BAILEY. Transcontinental Highway Hits Deming. President H. H.

Kelly, of the Chamber of Commerce, Mayor Corbett, A. W. Pollard and Ald. C. J.

Kelly drove to Lordsburg, Sunday, to meet Vice President Baker and Secretary Grinnell, of the Douglas Chamber of Commerce, concerning the transcontinental highway for automobiles, which is to hit. El Paso, Deming, Lordsburg, Douglas, Tucson and Phoenix, en route to the coast. As a result of this meeting there will in the near future be a meeting of the Douglas and El Paso people with the boys in Deming for the completion of the work. So far as Luna county is concerned a few hundred dollars would make a first class highway from one side of the county to the other. The distance from the Luna county line to Lordsburg will require a lot of work, and the party was assured by Commissioner B.

B. Ownby that Grant county had $1,000 to make the improvement necessary. Incidentally it might be stated that Luna county has about the best roads in the state. Barrington builds houses, any kind you want, and guarantees satisfac. tion.
