Laird Memorial Hospital serves residents of Kilgore and the surrounding with medical services seldom equaled even in larger municipalities. The hospital was established in 1951 and was named for Kilgore's longtime former mayor, Roy H. Laird, who died only months before the hospital was opened.

rooms except the wards. Television sets hang on room walls at or above head height and are operated by hand controls by patients from their beds. Telephone "jacks" have been installed in all rooms and portable instruments may be. plugged in when patients desire telephone. service.
