5 Wednesday September 10, 1980 Thursday September 11, 1980 SOUTH People You Know in IMi.nimaii,MgMWi Community Children's Theater opens 43rd season with brunch The Community Children's Theater will open its 43rd season with a membership brunch at the Country Club of Jackson Sept. 16 from a.m. The brunch will cost 3.50 and reservations must be made by Friday. Anyone interested in working with the fall production "Paddington Bear" is invited. To make reservations, call 354-1191.

Ballet scholarship auditions set Scholarship auditions will be held Saturday at the Jackson Ballet School in the Arts Center. Scholarships available include the Rex Cooper scholarships for boys ages 9-11 and 12-15; the Albia Kavan Cooper Scholarship for girls ages 9-11 and 12-15 and the Mary Alice Bookhart Scholarship for male and female Millsaps students Auditions will be held at noon for girls of all ages and at 1 p.m. for boys of all ages. Soccer league elects new officers The Southwest Jackson Soccer League recently elected its officers for the 1980-81 season.

They are Jim Hankins, commissioner; Carrol Sturdi-vant, president; Art Richard, vice president; Jon Matthews, secretery; Stanley Stuart, treasurer; Bill James, field director; Claude Miller, head referee; Kurt Thompson, head coach; and Frank Arender, program director. Pam Kinsley compete in state finals ployed by Blue Cross. Pam Kinsley, 17, 547 Heatherwood Drive, has been selected for competition in the state finals of the 1980 Teen-world Pageant, to be held in Tupelo Oct. 10-12. Miss Kinsley is the daughter of Mr.

and Mrs. Gerald Kinsley, and is a student at Woodland Hills Academy. Contestants from throughout Mississippi will be competing in the pageant. Maj. Gen. Cohen Shelly L. White, 111 Santa Clara has been promoted to the rank of colonel in the Mississippi Army National Maj. Gen.

"Buddy" Williams, Gore Road, who completed requirements for a bachelor's degree in art. South Jackson students Janie Linton, 5422 Clinton and James Morton, 2766 E. Benwood Drive, have been selected to participate in the advanced freshman English program at Belhaven College. Requirements for the program are high achievements on the English segment of the American College Test and other high school records.
