The freeholders unanimously approved these changes Wednesday in their $159 million budget, which is up about four percent from last year.

Though total spending and total taxes levied will rise from List year, the county is reducing the tax rate by about one cent. County Freeholder-Director Vincent Farias said the reduction to 48.3 cents per $100 of assessed valuation was made possi not have the necessary 370 signatures required for nomination. "I'm going to throw my support behind Whip," Garrison said. "He's the one that's willing to put an emphasis on the business community." A former president of the Camden Chamber of Commerce, Garrison is the liaison between the Chamber and the government. Garrison said his brother and Wilson were partners on the police force for six years.

He also said Walker is no longer in the race, and he has not talked with him since "the fiasco with the petitions." Upon learning of Garrison's decision, Walker responded with one word: "Good." Walker said he has not ble by an Increase in new construction and market value of some existing property that enables It to raise millions more in taxes and a $722,510 reduction by the state of the county's mandatory contribution to the fire and police pension fund. Before the $722,510 was forgiven this month, the county had proposed a tax levy of $115.3 million and a tax rate of 48.6 cents Wednesday. The freeholders reduced both figures. The levy dropped to $114.7 million. Farias said the freeholders wanted to pass the $722,510 savings on to taxpayers rather than raise spending.

The change also dropped the total budget from $159.7 million to $159 million. Last year's budget was $151.9 million about $7 million less. scrawled on a bathroom stall at Orchard Valley Middle School. David R. Garrison, owner of Cartun Hardware in East Camden, said Wednesday he will support Wilson in the May 8 election. Reddish, already serving two life prison terms for a murder and a rape in Burlington Township, admitted March 19 that he smothered Sharon Yeda "Dede" Rosenthal after she found him burglarizing her apartment on Feb. 22, 1991. That plea agreement required Reddish to show authorities the burial spot, which he later refused to do. Camden County Assistant Prosecutor Mary Alison Albright said her office agreed to the deal because authorities thought it was the only way to locate the 32-year-old woman's body and bring closure to her family. Rosenthal's older brother, Blane Rosenberg of Canada, sobbed Wednesday when Reddish entered the courtroom. He was too distraught after the hearing to talk with reporters.

Superior Court Judge Frank M. Lario said Reddish's refusal to disclose the location of the body violated terms of the plea agreement.
