Wednesday, January 3, 1906. Board now meets pursuant to adjournment; all members present. Board now orders a refunding war-rEnt drawn in favor of R. L. Griffith on account of erroneous assessment on real estate in the sum of $7.03.

Board now orders a refunding warrant drawn in favor of C. S. Baxter on account of erroneous assessment on personal property in the sum of $6.32. Board now examines a petition presented by A. J.

Way and others, petitioning for the location of the following described road, viz: Commencing at a point twenty five feet south of the south end of Vermont avenue, City of Il5lton, Kansas, on the west side of said Vermont avenue, thence west along the north line of lands adjoining the City of Holton or as near as practicable, to intersect the street known as Wisconsin avenue, Holton, extended south, or connecting with south end of said Wisconsin avenue. Board now agrees to meet as viewers with W. B. Talbert, county surveyor. at the place of beginning, on the 28th day of February, 1906, make view and survey and determine questions of damage according to law.

Board now examines a petition presented by James S. Holt and others, praying for a bridge to be constructed on the half section line between the northeast quarter of section No. 20, and the southeast quarter of section No. 20, township 9 of range No. 16, where the public road crosses the creek on said line.

An ordinance providing for electric lights and providing for a contract between the nolton Electric Company, a corporation, and the City of Holton, for the term of two from and after November 15th, 1905. A it ordained hy the Mayor and Councilmen of City of Holton: oectio.v I. That the contract heretofore istinir between the Citv of Holton and the Electric Company, a corporation, as prb ided for in ordinance number two hun dred and ninety-four t24) of the City of Holton, be, and the same is hereby renewed and extended for the term of two (2) years from and aftc November loth, 1905, upon the following- ttrms and conditions, viz: The said City of Holton has agreed and does hereby agree to and with the said Holton Electric Company to rent from said company twenw-eifrht arc lights consuming three hundred and forty Watts each perlanip, at 1200 nominal candle power each, for the term of two (2) years from and after November 15th, as provided for by ordinance number two hundred and ninety-four (2I4) of the City of Holton; all of said arc lights to be maintained and located In the same places as the same are now maintained and located, subject however, to their location being changed at any time during the continuance of this contract, by direction of the Mayor and Councilmen of the City of Holton. But in case of a change or re-location of any of said lights, the actual cost and expense necessarily Incurred in making such change or re-location shall be borne and paid for by the said City of Holton. Each of said arc lights is to be lighted each and every night on the moonlight schedule for lighting gas streetlights, and is to be burned until twelve o'clock, midnight, and on all nights, or parts of nights, when It is cloudy when the moon ought to shine and does not givesufflclent light; but not to burn later than twelve o'clock, midnight, except by special contract.

The City hereby agrees to pay to the suid Holton Electric Company as rental for the said twenty-eiKht (2S) arc lights, the sum of five dollars and fifty cents per month, for eac of said are lights: said rent shall be paid in city warrants of the City of Holton. at the first regular meeting of the council after the last day of each month, for each and every month during the continuance of hi contract. Any amount that shall be to said company from the said City iiicli shall not be paid as hereby provided shall draw interest from and after that da at the rate of six 16) percent per annum. The said company shall, at its option have the right to substitute long-burning, enclosed arc lamps in place of the arc lamps now In use.
