AT LACEY TWP. Matchup: S.J. Group 3 semifinal Time: 1 p.m. Seedings: Winslow Twp.

(7-2) is No. 3, while Lacey Twp. is No. 2 How they got here: Winslow Township defeated No. 6 Timber Creek 35-15; Lacey Twp.

defeated No. 7 Delsea 23-13 Coaches: Mike McBride (Winslow Lou Vircillo (Lacey Twp.) Key players: Winslow Damon Julian (WR), Brandon Jones (WRDB), Kevin Milton (DL); Lacey Tom Rickmers (RB), Warren Smith (QB), Justin Pandorf (LB) The pick: Winslow Twp. 33-21 Why: The Eagles have the kind of quick-play potential that can put teams away in a hurry. Look for Julian and Jones to play major roles. WOODBURY AT PAULSBORO Matchup: S.J.

Group 1 semifinal Time: 1 p.m. Seedings: Woodbury (7-2) is No. 3, while Paulsboro (7-2) is No. 2 How they got here: Woodbury defeated No. 6 Gloucester 26-21; Paulsboro defeated No.

7 Penns Grove 21-6 Coaches: Zack Valentine (Woodbury); Glenn Howard (Paulsboro) Key players: Woodbury: Shawney Kersey (WR), James Bundy (RB), Donte Harvey (QB); Paulsboro: Stephon Archie (RBDB), Zach Greenwald (LB), Gerald Hodges (QBDB) The pick: Paulsboro 26-13 Why: While the Thundering Herd will have revenge on their mind, Howard won't allow Paulsboro to come in overconfident. Always a battle, the Red Raiders will ride Hodges to a berth in the final. Mike Calzonetti Gloucester Catholic Grade: Senior Position: Quarterback Height: 6-5 Weight: 210 Accomplishments: Calzonetti engineered a game-winning, 91 -yard drive, scoring on a 9-yard run with just 1.3 seconds to play, as the Rams knocked oft eight-time defending state champion St. Joseph of Hammonton in a Non-Public Group 2 state semifinal. He also had a 1-yard TD run and threw a 30-yard touchdown pass in the 24-21 win.

Kevin Minnick enters today's South Jersey Group 3 semifinal at Lacey Township. "I'm very comfortable with the quarterback situation and the way our chemistry has stayed so well," McBride said. After junior Ka'Lial Gland broke his right hand against Moorestown on Oct. 20, McBride has gone with Brandon Crosson at quarterback. The Eagles lost their next game against Eastern but bounced back with last week's 35-15 playoff win over Timber Creek.

With big-time receivers like Damon Julian and Brandon Jones looking to wreak havoc on defensive backs, Crosson has done a solid job as the new starter. "He was one of those wide receivers doing a great job, so Brandon understands the passing game," McBride said. "He throws a nice ball. He doesn't throw the deep ball like Ka'Lial, but he throws the intermediate ball and every once in a while gets one deep to keep the defense honest." Glaud is now seeing action as the starting middle linebacker. He had 10 tackles last week.

McBride knows the Eagles can't afford to make mistakes if they want to advance to the sectional final. "We have to play penalty-free and can't turn over the ball," McBride said. "(Lacey) is a very physical team. We'll have to match their intensity and go from there." Role model Not every team has the oppor- Comments: "He kept his cool at the end and really put us over the hump. He threw the ball real well on the last drive.

We didn't have any timeouts and he took control of the game. He's not known as a runner, but he made it into the end zone," said coach Tony Garczynski. Standings Friday's games not included COLONIAL CONFERENCE FOOTBALL Hitting tlie road is nothing new for the Woodbury football team. So putting on the road uniform for today's South Jersey Group 1 semifinal against Paulsboro is no problem for the Thundering Herd. The way coach Zack Valentine sees it, the field is still 100 yards long and each quarter remains 12 minutes.

"We've been playing on the road for 2V2-3 years, so what's it matter?" said Valentine, whose team has played three home games this year after renovations to its stadium took nearly three years to complete. "What it's going to take is a tremendous effort from all our kids. We went there the last time and gave up some big plays. We have to go out and play mistake-free football. Our kids are looking forward to the game and I think it'll be a good one." Look for Donte Harvey to start at quarterback.

The Thundering Herd (7-2) will also need big games from James Bundy and Shawney Kersey to help get the job done. "We have to tackle well, create turnovers and not lay the ball on the ground," Valentine said. "And we have to put ourselves in position to score some points." Paulsboro (7-2), No. 2 in the Courier-Post Small Schools Top 10, won the regular-season matchup 27-7. The Red Raiders were forced to forfeit two victories (Haddon Heights and Gateway) this week for using an ineligible player.

The Red Raiders are led by junior quarterback Gerald Hodges, along with the likes of Ste-phon Archie, Darren Carter, Marcus Gaines, Ra'Chard Braxton and Zach Greenwald. Eagles feeling good Winslow Township coach Mike McBride may be nervous, but likes where his team is as it Statistics Scoring Leaders Friday's games not Included about him. The difference is, he teaches kids the little things. He's not all about offensive plays or defensive plays. He's about trying to teach kids to practice the right tunity to learn from someone who's reached the pinnacle of football success.

But at Camden Catholic, the Irish have just that in Fred Baxter. An 11-year NFL veteran with the New York Jets, Chicago Bears and New England Patriots, Baxter's involvement began late last season when he attended a few practices. This season, he's been coaching special teams and tight ends. "He's a role model for many of the kids. He helps in a lot of different ways," head coach Rick Brown said.

"He's unbelievable. He's played in the Super Bowl (Super Bowl XXXIII with the Jets). And it's down to just two players.

William Washington of Holy Spirit leads in scoring (194 points) and touchdowns (32), and is second in yards Jonathan Grimes of Paul VI is second in points (192) and touchdowns (31), and first in yards Both played in State Non-Public semifinals on Friday and have Thanksgiving Day regular-season finales remaining at the least. Honors Sterling will honor players from its 1970s "glory teams" during halftime of Wednesday's Colo nial Conference game against Colllngswood. There will be a pre-game dinner, former players will be shown around the school and way." The Irish (7-2), No. 6 in the Small Schools Top 10, closes its season on Thanksgiving Day against rival Paul VI. All alone Last year's All-South Jersey quarterback, Tommy Reilly of Holy Cross has delivered another solid season.

In last week's State Non-Public Group 2 semifinal against Morris Catholic, the senior threw five touchdown passes to become South Jersey's all-time leader with 64. David Goree of Woodrow Wilson set the old mark of 63 in 1995. Reilly threw all five in the first quarter and finished 13-of-17 for 228 yards. On the year, he's completed 118-of-184 passes for 1,690 yards. With two games left, Reilly has completed 362-of-612 career passes for 5,232 yards sixth on the all-time South Jersey list for yardage.

More records By the time he's finished, William Washington will own a host of records. Already the Cape-Atlantic League's single-season rushing leader, the Holy Spirit senior set the CAL single-season records for touchdowns and points during last week's State Non-Public Group 3 playoff game against Bishop Ahr. Washington set both marks with the third of his four TDs. He entered Friday's playoff game against St. Joseph-Montvale with 32 touchdowns and 194 points.

Kevin Sinclair of Ocean City scored 30 touchdowns in 1995 and '96, while Hammonton's Ron Dorsey also scored 30 in 1996. Both had 182 points in 1996. Washington set the CAL's single-season rushing record last year with 1,863 yards. He entered Friday with 1,607 yards on 148 carries and could play as many as two more games with a win. Title up for grabs The regular-season finale be- tween Washington Township and Eastern always seems to have some sort of title implications.

This year is no different. The BurlcoOlympic League American Division will be on the line when they meet on Friday at Washington Township. There will be no sharing of the crown this season winner takes all. Both teams come in undefeated in division play at 5-0.
