Penn Game Restated STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) The Penn State-Pittsburgh football game has been switched from Saturday, Nov. 23, to Thanksgiving night, Nov. 28, and will be shown on national television (ABC), Penn State disclosed Tuesday. DALLAS (AP) A suddenly revived kicking game ignited by former World Football League punter Duane Carrell and free agent field goal specialist Efren Herrera has propelled the Dallas Cowboys back into the National Football League playoff picture.

Dallas upset St. Louis 17-14 Sunday to even the Cowboys record at 4-4, just a game behind Washington in the National Conference East. St. Louis is 7-1 and it appears Dallas and Washington will be in a fight for the wild card berth which goes to the team with the best record other than for the divisional champions. "The kind of kicking game we got Sunday can give a good for the attitude and morale of the team," Coach Tom Landry said Tuesday.

Carrell three times backed the Cardinals up to their 10-yard line with punts and averaged 41 yards per kick. Herrera kicked a 20-yard field goal with four seconds left to play to win the game. Carrell was obtained from the now defunct Jacksonville Sharks of the WFL. Herrera, a seventh round draft choice from UCLA who was cut by the Detroit Lions, was signed Oct. 4 as a free agent.

"Carrell really kicked well under pressure and I just hope he's for reaL.not a mirage," Landry said. "In fact, he was fantastic." Landry continued, "Herrera has excellent range up to 45 or 50 yards." Carrell was added to the roster after three-year veteran Marv Bateman shanked a punt just nine yards against the New York Giants two weeks ago. Herrera succeeded Mac Percival, who failed in an attempt to fill the gap for the injured Toni Fritsch, lost for the year with a leg injury. Dallas, which has been in the NFL playoffs a record seven consecutive years, is less solid according to Landry than his past playoff teams. However, he indicated the By The Associated Press The two Big O's of college football, Ohio State and Oklahoma, continue to dominate the weekly Associated Press poll, but Alabama has bumped Michigan from the No.

3 spot. Ohio State, with a clean bill of health from the National Collegiate Athletic Association, remained No. 1 while Oklahoma, quarantined from post season play for league infractions, again settled for the runner-up role, only 122 points behind the Buckeyes. (AP) New Mexico State University Coach Jim Bradley says the officiating during the Aggies' weekend football loss to the University of New Mexico was marked by a "lack of ability and integrity." The Western Athletic Conference Lobos dumped the Aggies of the Missouri Valley Conference, 26-24, in the Saturday night contest.

"I question the integrity of some WAC officials," Bradley said at his weekly news The nonconference game, a traditional rivalry between the state's two largest colleges, was judged by five officials three from the WAC and two from the MVC. Sooners in the number of first-place votes received from a nationwide panel of sports writers and broadcasters. The Buckeyes wound up with 49 top votes and 1,212 of a possible 1.240 points. The Sooners, 7-0 after a 28-10 triumph over Iowa State, reaped 10 first-place votes and 1,090 points. Alabama, fourth a week ago; took over the No.

3 spot after blitzing Mississippi State 35-0. Michigan, which pulled out a 21-7 victory over Indiana, slipped to fourth in the poll released Tuesday. Alabama had two first-place votes and 918 points while Michigan received the only other No. 1 vote and 850 points. Texas which had been idling in eighth place for three weeks, roared into the top five after throttling Arkansas 20-10.

Auburn, meanwhile, skidded to 10th from fifth after a 25-14 loss to Florida, its first of the season. Florida's fine showing boosted the Gators to sixth from 11th, swapping places with Southern California which had to settle for a 15-15 tie with California. Perm State moved up to seventh from 10th after beating Maryland 24-17 and Notre Dame, the defending national champion, slipped one place to eighth after edging Navy 14-6. Nebraska remained ninth, with Auburn 10th. Trailing Southern Cal in the Second 10 were Texas, Miami of Ohio, Maryland, Houston, Arizona State, Oklahoma State and California.

"Each week is a struggle and any team on our schedule can beat us," said Landry. "I still think Washington has the best defense in our division and has the best chance in the stretch.

But we could become just as strong." The three-game Cowboy winning streak had Landry in a good mood as he met with writers Tuesday at his regular press luncheon. "Anybody want to fight?" Landry quipped as he sat down, obviously referring to Atlanta Coach Norm Van Brocklin's challenge to a sports writer Monday.
