Being an impatient young man, Jim Anderson is properly cast with the Minnesota wrestling team. Anderson is a 123-pound-er who leads off each meet for the Gophers, and does it so well that he is unbeaten in 14 matches at that weight. His only loss this season came two weeks ago at Iowa State, when coach Wally Johnson moved him up to the 130-pound division. "I don't like to sit around and wait," said Anderson, a former state high school champion at Fridley. "There's a lot of pressure when you're the first man on the mat, but I'd rather get out there and have it over with." Anderson will lead the Gophers into three dual meets in a busy program Saturday afternoon at Williams Arena.

Starting at 12:30 p.m., the quadrangular will include three dual meets involving Minnesota, Michigan State, Illinois and State College of Iowa. Michigan State is the defending Big Ten champion, heavily favored to repeat, and may be the nation's best collegiate wrestling team. It has beaten No. 1 -ranked Oklahoma, and tied No. 3-ranked Oklahoma State.

The Spartans have five former Big Ten champions: Dale Anderson at 130 pounds, Dale Carr at 137 and Mike Bradley at 177 from 1966 and Don Behm at 130 and heavyweight Jeff Richardson from 1965. They will not, however, be favored at 123 pounds. Anderson has already beaten his opponent, Gary Bis-sell, in a Jan. 7 quadrangular at Northwestern.
