Tapping The Keg (Continued from Page 11) In seven previous frames, Bunker had a horrible record 19 hits, 11 runs and two de- feats. He complained of a sore shoulder, but manager Hank Bauer didn't consider the excuse legitimate. Hank rapped him publicly after the Los Angeles Dodgers pounded out seven hits and five runs off Wally in two innings last Tuesday at Vero Beach.

Bauer accused the kid of not trying to pitch and intimated that Bunker could forget last year's record. There are no starters who can't be replaced on the Orioles, he said. "Whether he's a starter depends on he shows us here," Hank asserted just before Wally walked to the hill to face the Phils. Then he added, "I think he'll show us something tonight." Bunker admitted that Bauer's threat of sending him to Rochester got him to thinking. He said that he decided to pitch like Bauer and hill coach Harry Brecheen had suggested, keeping'his hand higher and getting away from the sidearm throwing.

The 6-2 righthander said that for the first time this spring the shoulder didn't bother him. He also admitted that he was not irritated at his manager because of the things he said about him. "I think I would have done the same thing had I been in his place. Maybe it looked to him like I wasn't trying," the boy wonder observed. Bunker said the shoulder trouble came in the stretch drive of the torrid pennant race last season when Bauer was using him and Milt Pappas every four days in a valiant but futile effort to nail the flag.

Bunker won five and lost one in those last three hectic weeks. To Davidson CHARLES TOWN, W. Va. Bruins Shake Management BOSTON (UPI) If the Bos- ton Bruins run their residency in the National Hockey League cellar to seven straight years next season, they'll do it with an "old-fashioned disciplinar- ian" looking over their should- ers. The Bruins, who haven't been in the Stanley Cup playoffs for six long seasons, announced a major shakeup in their man- agement Monday. It consisted of the promotion from minor league status to Boston general manager of a 60-year-old non-smoker and non- drinker, LeighUm (Hap) Emms.

Veteran Bruins General Man- ager Lynn Patrick, the target of a mid-season ouster petition by Boston fans, was named ad- ministrative vice president.
