The attack took place in an elevator at Hahnemann Medical Center Friday, where Scarfo was visiting his brother, Mark, 17, who is in a comatose state following an attempted suicide Tuesday.

The woman was treated for head injuries and released from the hospital. Detectives said she couldn't remember what happened after the two men got onto the elevator car with her. Scarfo was arrested in the hospital about 15 minutes later without a struggle, DeLise said. Police are searching for the other man. HAZEL GLUCK wants to ease traffic Official calls for carpooling By JUDITH THOMAS Courier-Post Staff MOUNT LAUREL Carpooling is the only practical alternative that would ease traffic congestion on New Jersey highways, the state transportation commissioner told local officials here last week.

"Relieving congestion on our highways is going to take more than the old, just-build-another-highway syndrome," said Department of Transportation Commissioner Hazel Gluck. "The days of major new highway construction are over," she told a group of about 30 municipal officials at the Viscount Hotel on Route 73 here recently. Gluck is proposing that companies encourage carpooling and provide park-and-ride facilities for their employees. Mayor Larry Chatzdakis praised the plan. "It's a good plan; it'll work," said Chatzdakis.

"We're going to be pushing it in Mount Laurel." Gluck's talk to the officials had another message. The state's Transportation Trust Fund is running dry, she mid.
