DETROIT (AP) Cardinal John Dearden, who led the Roman Catholic archdiocese of Detroit for 22 years and was an important voice for church reform, died yesterday at the age of 80. Cardinal Dearden died of pancreatic cancer at Providence Hospital, where he had been hospitalized since July 22.

"This good and holy priest, archbishop and cardinal of the church, will be mourned by Catholics of the Archdiocese of Detroit, this country and throughout the world," said Cardinal Edmund Szoka, the archbishop of Detroit. Cardinal Dearden, who headed the archdiocese from 1959 to 1981, voted in the election of two popes and played a major role in the Second Vatican Council, which from 1962-65 launched extensive reforms in the church, including departure from the Latin Mass, greater emphasis on laymen's roles Filomena DeNardo, WINSLOW Funeral services will be tomorrow for Filomena (Lena) DeNardo, 79, of Blue Anchor, who died Saturday in an auto accident on Route 73 outside her Thornton Avenue home. Mrs. DeNardo was making a left-hand turn onto her street at about 4 p.m. when her car was struck by a car driven by Kurt Kraenbring, 27, of Medford.

Mrs. DeNardo was born in Amsterdam, N.Y., and had lived in Blue Anchor for the past 62 years. She died while being transported by helicopter to the trauma unit at Cooper Hospital-University Medical Center in Camden. Mrs. DeNardo belonged to the Blessed Virgin Mary Society of St.

Lucy's Church, and she had been a volunteer worker for the Ancora Psychiatric State Hospital for 29 years. She also belonged to the Legion of Mary of the hospital. She was a member of the Altar Jr. of Haddonfield. Six grandchildren and two great grandaughters.

"Since 711 N. Major Guy F. Muziani, former assemblyman 3B and fostering greater unity among all Christians. Cardinal Dearden retired as archbishop in 1980 after suffering a heart attack but continued to administer the diocese until May 1981, when he was succeeded by Cardinal Szoka, who was elevated in June to cardinal. Cardinal Dearden cited health reasons and age for retiring as spiritual leader of the 1.2 million-member archdiocese.

He remained active, however, in the College of Cardinals. Cardinal Dearden, a Rhode Island native, was raised in Cleveland. He became a priest in 1932 and served as a bishop in Pittsburgh before coming to Detroit. He founded the National Conference of Catholic Bishops and was its president from 1966-71. He is survived by brothers, Ted and Greg of Cleveland, and a number of nieces and nephews.

The funeral was in Lincoln. A memorial service will be held 7:30 p.m. tomorrow at the Community Church of Love in Paterson. Mrs. DuCoin is survived by her husband, Francis three daughters, Phyllis Wills of Westmont, E.

Muziani, a former state assemblyman who championed tourism in the course of his political career. Involved in a variety of civic and business ventures in the Wild-woods, Mr. Muziani gained most of his reputation during a political career that began with some setbacks in the 1960s. He lost bids to win a seat on Wildwood's city commission in 1964 and 1968. That losing streak ended in 1972, when Mr. Muziani won his first of three terms on the commission.

He served as the city's mayor until 1983. A Republican, Mr. Muziani represented Cape May and Cum Leroy S. Hunley died Friday while visiting his relatives in Lincoln, Neb. He was 72. An employee for 40 years, Mr. Hunley worked as an insurance agent for the Camden branch. He was later transferred to Peterson, where he retired as regional vice president in 1967.

After his retirement, he continued to serve as an instructor and consultant for the company up until his death. In his youth, Mr. Hunley became a member of the Scotts AUMP Church in Camden and SCHAFFER July 31, 1988. Allen of Mt. Ephraim, N.J.
