superintendent of construction for Par Development Corporation, Bud previously was employed by Kimball Hill Homes. Bud was a NASCAR enthusiast and one of his greatest enjoyments in life was riding his Harley. He was very involved with Wonder Lake Boys Baseball when his children were young. Bud will be remembered as a dedicated coach and volunteer within the league for many years. A doting grandfather, he treasured being a part of the activities of his grandchildren.

Survivors include three children, Tammy (Kent) Stinger, Kelly (Ryan) Udelhofen and Bill Slack; five grandchildren, Jeffrey, Trevor, Lucas, Addison and Megan; and a brother, Raymond (Mickey) Slack. Continued from page A6 DOROTHY FERSLEW Born: Sept. 6, 1929 Died: Jan. 26, 2016 Dorothy Ferslew, of Crystal Lake, formerly of Chicago, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 26, at the age of 86. She was born September 6, 1929, in Chicago to Frank and Marie (nee Kuna) Gapski. On June 7, 1952, Dorothy was united in marriage to Howard Ferslew.

Dorothy spent two years at Wilbur Wright Junior College. She was employed as a secretary, and later in life she became a dog groomer. Dorothy had a passion for dogs; she was a breeder and exhibitor of Cocker Spaniels. Many of her dogs received their AKC Championship. She was also a dedicated member of the Skyline Cocker Spaniel Club and the American Spaniel Club for many years.

Dorothy is survived by her loving daughter, Susan (Jim) McFarlane; beloved grandchildren, Kelsey and Ben McFarlane; and her niece, Debbie Mclntyre. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Howard; brother, George Gapski; and many cherished friends. A memorial visitation will be held Friday, February 5, from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. with a service to celebrate Dorothy's life at 8:30 p.m. at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 Terra Cotta (Rt 176) Crystal Lake.

Rockford, Illinois as a child, where her parents, Charles and Virginia (Sisti) Weber, raised her and Ruth's younger sister, Nancy. On June 29, 1957, Ruth married Charles McCarthy in Rockford. The couple moved to Harvard soon thereafter and raised a family, which included nearly 40 foster children of all ages over a period of 20 years.

Ruth worked at the Harvard Police Department as a radio dispatcher for most of her adult life, where she retired as head dispatcher. She was a faithful member of St. Joseph Church and attended regularly, often several times a week. She was a member of the church's senior choir. Ruth also played a lead role in unionizing Harvard's city employees.

Throughout her life Ruth pulled for the underdog, which accounts for her avid support of Chicago sports teams and the occasional stray cats, dogs, opossums (including "Georgeington" the opossum), raccoons, and neglected or abused children. Ruth also had a great sense of humor and was quick to laugh at any joke, appropriate for church or otherwise. Surviving are Ruth's children. Daniel (Michelle) of Hebron, Illinois; Jeffrey (Patricia) of Harvard; Terence (Kristi) of Lake Geneva, Wisconsin; Steven of Hudson, Wisconsin; a foster son, David, of Orlando, Florida; grandchildren, Kristin Hammond; Jessica McCormick and Matthew McCarthy; Rachel and Allison McCarthy; Conor, Braden, Jenna and Ryan McCarthy; Hannah and Zach McCarthy; and two great grandchildren, Teagan McCormick and Colm McCormick. Also surviving is Ruth's sister, Nancy (Joe) Goodwin, of Ankeny, lowaValrico, Florida, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Charles. Visitation will be February 3, from 9:30 to 11:00 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 206 E. Front in Harvard. The funeral will immediately follow at St.

Joseph Church. Lunch following the funeral will be at the Harvard Moose Lodge. Burial will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery. Masses in Ruth's name would be appreciated.

She married Don G. Torgeson on July 14, 1949. They celebrated 38 years of marriage before Don passed away in 1987. She had a passion for baking, sewing, puzzles, watching tennis, and cheering for the Cubs. Born June 17, 1981, in Des Plaines to Patrick and Linda (Ohm) Mahoney, Colleen was a graduate of the McHenry County College SED0M Program and lived life to the fullest. Her passions included horseback riding, bowling, cooking, movies and music. As a cheerleader for her family and friends, Colleen allowed everyone around her to feel unique and special while enjoying every moment of every day.

As the oldest of four children, Colleen and her addictive smile touched more people than we will ever know. Her angelic spirit will long be remembered by the infinite lives she has touched. FREUND Born: July 7, 1924 Died: Jan. 29, 2016 George M. Freund, age 91, of McHenry, passed away Friday, January 29, 2016, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in McHenry on July 7, 1924, the son of George P. and Mary (Meyer) Freund.

On June 12, 1948, he married the love of his life, Gloria Biggers at St. Mary's Catholic Church in McHenry. They were married for 50 years and raised 4 children until Gloria's passing in 1998. George worked with his two brothers in their family-owned business, J.I. Case Company, until his retirement.

He was a member and usher of St. Mary Catholic Church. George was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters, the VFW, and the American Legion. He was very active with the McHenry School Board, and a Loan Officer with the McHenry Savings and Loan. He was the singer and trumpet player for his 5-piece dance band, played trumpet for many years in the McHenry City Band his true passion was singing.

He also loved bowling, golfing, and spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by his children, Patti (Dave) Laursen, Carole (Frank) Tucci, and Linda (Bill) Pomierski; his grandchildren, Jill (Joe) Flores, Todd (Erica) Freund, Nikki (Dan) Pagels, Frankie Tucci, Dan (Ava) Pomierski, and Justine, Brianne and Matthew Pomierski; his great-grandchildren, Abby and Gwen Flores, Layla and Ryder Pagels and Easton Freund; his brother, Robert (Renee) Freund; his sisters-in-law, Doris Freund, Joan Dermont and Judy Biggers; daughter-in-law, Laurie Freund-Dina; many nieces, nephews and cousins, and his much loved caregiver and friend, Ganzo.
