of Lexington, S.C.; one sister, Helen D. Haskell of Barrington; and four grandchildren. Funeral services, under the direction of Harold E. Haines Funeral Home, 30 W. Holly Pitman, will be 1 1 a.m.

OCEAN CITY Harry R. Deith, a former state assemblyman and an outspoken advocate of workers' rights, died yesterday at Underwood-Memorial Hospital, Woodbury. He was 71. A former Collingswood resident, Mr. Deith moved to Ocean City three years ago after retiring as a Camden County probation officer.

Mr. Deith was a Camden County Democrat who served three years in the Assembly from 1944 to 1946. During an address before members of the Ninth Ward Democratic Association headquarters in 1945, Mr. Deith, a candidate for re-election, said, "I think the three most important bills are the Workmen's Compensation Act, Unemployment Compensation and the Migrant Labor Bill. Of these, the unemployment bill is the most important." Following a conference with the president of the Camden Board of Education in the fall of 1945, Deith was convinced of a dire need for professional child-care centers, as well as additional legislation to strengthen the state's child labor laws.

Ellen Vinton Ford Willits, a longtime Haddonfield resident who taught piano lessons to many generations of borough children, is dead at the age of 102. She died Friday at Jeanes Hospital, Philadelphia.

Mrs. Willits was born in Camden on Oct. 19, 1878, and moved to Haddonfield with her family in 1912. She attended the Friends Central School in Philadelphia and continued her study at the Philadelphia Conservatory of Music, which recognized her as an affiliated teacher in 1914. The Art Publication Society certified her as a piano teacher in 1916.

Rice, 85, described as "the last of the old-time evangelists" and author of more than 200 religious booklets, will be buried tomorrow in Murfreesboro, Tenn. A high Mass will be held tomorrow in Yonkers, N.Y., for Gregory Batt-cock, a prominent art critic and William Paterson College professor, who was found stabbed to death last week in his San Juan apartment. He joined Gannett Rochester Newspapers, composed of the Rochester Times-Union and the Rochester Democrat Chronicle, in 1971 as executive editor and was named editorial chairman in 1977. Mr. Dunham is survived by his wife, Maureen, whom he married in 1954; and three daughters, Caroline of Berkeley, Sara of Washington, D.C., and Elisabeth, living at home.

08094 Tl60t-62t-7244 Marguerite A. Farina, educator PALMYRA Marguerite A. Farina, former Gloucester City teacher and elementary school principal, died Sunday at her home here. She was 69. Mrs.

Farina, who was a teaching principal at the Brown Street Public School in Gloucester City for 44 years until her retirement, was a former resident of Riverton. She was an active member of the New Jersey Education Association and the retired Camden County Teachers Association. She also belonged to the Porch Club of Riverton, Haddon Fortnightly in Haddonfield, the Mer- one of her compositions in 1929 from the Society of Arts and Letters of Philadelphia. She also was active in the Haddon Fortnightly, the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Haddonfield Garden Club and Grace Episcopal Church. For many years, Mrs.

Willits and her husband, Josiah, lived at her family home at 18 W. Kings Highway in Haddonfield. Mr. Willits died in 1969. For the last 10 years, Mrs.

Willits resided at Friends Hall of Fox Chase in Cheltenham, Pa. Mrs. Willits is survived by four nieces. Private funeral services have been held. chantville and Riverton country clubs and Catholic Daughters of America.

Mrs. Farina is survived by her husband, Frank K. There will be a viewing after 6:30 tonight at the Sacred Heart Church, Fourth and Linden avenues, Riverton, where Mrs. Farina was an active parishioner for many years. There will be a Mass of the Resurrection at the church at 8 p.m.

Entombment, under the direction of the Robert J. Blake Funeral Home, 226 Collings Collingswood, will be at 9:30 a.m. tomorrow in the Chapel of Calvary Cemetery Mau- soleum, Cherry Hill. at one point had paralyzed him, but had been recovering and was expected back to work Jan. 5.

Mr. Dunham started his career in 1945 as a reporter for New York's Binghamton Press, working his way to the position of city editor in the next 20 years. In 1965, he was named editor of the Courier-Post and served in that capacity for two years, after which he was editor of the Hartford (Conn.) Times from 1967 to 1971. Although Hardin thought of himself more as a jazz artist, a strong undercurrent of blues and country in most of his music gained him a following among folk music fans. As a writer, Hardin was almost invariably a romantic, never topical or surrealistic.

Some of Hardin's best known songs were "Don't Make Promises," "Green Rocky Road," "Reasons to Believe" and "Misty Roses." Hardin, whose father was a bass player and whose mother was a violinist and concert mistress with the Portland Civic Symphony in Oregon, dropped out of high school in Eugene, after three years and enlisted in the Marines. Stuart A. Dunham, former Courier-Post editor Gannett News Service Former Courier-Post editor Stuart A. Dunham died yesterday in suburban Rochester, N.Y., of an apparent heart attack. He was 60.

Mr. Dunham, a resident of Pitts-ford, N.Y., was editorial chairman of Gannett Rochester Newspapers at the time of his death. A spokesman for Gannett Co. Inc. said Mr.

Dunham had been suffering from a viral infection identified as Guillaume-Barre syndrome, which Man believed armed gets $2,600 at bank BURLINGTON TWP. Police laid they are looking for a gruff-voiced man who escaped with about $2,600 yesterday after holding up four tellers at the LaGorce Square branch office of Provident Savings Bank on Route 130. Police said the man entered the bank shortly after 10 a.m. and pointed a paper bag that appeared to contain a gun at the tellers. There were no customers inside the bank at the time of the robbery.

Folksinger Hardin found dead; Associated Press HOLLYWOOD An autopsy will be conducted to help determine what caused the death of folksinger Tim Hardin, 39, best known as the composer of "If I Were a Carpenter," police said. Police found Hardin's body at his apartment around 6:30 p.m. yesterday after receiving an anonymous telephone tip, said Sgt. Frank Spangler. The cause of death was not immediately determined, but Spangler said there was no evidence of foul play.
