18 THE PHILADELPHIA DAILY NEWS MARCH 2, 1992 Death Notices Death Notices Death Notices DEATHS 'Harry' Albert, 81, devoted to the rosary Daily News Staff Report Henry F. Albert, a retired Philadelphia Naval Shipyard worker who prayed the rosary on his knees every night, died Wednesday. He was 81 and a lifelong resident of Grays Ferry. Albert, known as "Harry" to his family and legion of friends, was a pipe insulator in the shipyard's 56 Shop. He retired on disability in 1966 after working with asbestos insulation for more than 24 years.

Albert was an avid Mummer in his younger years. He first marched with the Klein Fancy Club, then joined the Ferko String Band, for which he played the banjo. Albert was one of the charter members of the South Philadelphia String Band, established in 1947. For many years Albert was an usher at St. Gabriel Church in Grays Ferry.

In January, he and his wife, the former Mary J. Devine, celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary. "Mr. Albert prayed the rosary every evening at 7 in the parlor with his family assembled in front of a statue of the Blessesd Virgin Mary," said funeral director Bill Shea, a neighborhood friend. "If somebody knocked during prayers, that visitor was given a rosary, then invited to participate.

Non-Catholics were known to have prayed, along with a Jewish fellow as well," Shea said. When a family member was ill, Harry would lead the assembled in the parlor to the room of the ailing person, where they prayed the rosary around the sickbed. In addition to his wife, Albert is survived by five sons, Joseph, Robert, Francis, Charles and Anthony; six daughters, Patricia Davidson, Mary Keenan, Catherine Gaffney, Mildred Albert, Rita Scaltrito and Helen Matusavage; two sisters, Anna Millar and Jean DiBiase; 17 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. today at St.

Gabriel Church, 29th and Dickinson streets. Burial will be in Ss. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Sproul and Crum Creek Roads, Marple Township, Delaware County. Katharine Dolan Foody Katharine Dolan Foody, a Port Richmond homemaker, died Wednesday. Her age, a secret she kept in life, was not released.

Foody was a lifelong resident of Port Richmond and a member of St. Anne Parish. In 1875, her grandfather, Dennis Brophy, built the home on East Lehigh Avenue at Almond Street where she lived all her life, according to a daughter, Kathleen R. Gormley. Her husband was the late John A.

Foody, who operated a taproom on Delaware Avenue at Berks Street. "She was a very kind, thoughtful and generous lady who had many. friends and admirers," said Gormley. AHLERS GRACE W. (nee Weaver) of Somerton; on March 1, 1992; beloved wife of William B.
