Come with some good ideas. I'm sure the priest will listen to you and try to accommodate you. Nothing warms the heart of a priest more than the interest young people show in religion, Liturgy, and Christ. If you do this I'm sure you will have results. I'm sure you will help hundreds of young people and even adults.

This kind of interest will help your parish family to grow in unity and love. May God bless you. Dear Peter, I understand your problem and I have been to parishes where precious little is done for young people especially in regard to the Liturgy. I have had parish priests admit to me that they have done little for the young people in their parish. Some blame it on older parishioners who don't want guitar Masses and so on.

In a parish such as you describe, it's time for young people to do something. Go see the priest yourself or go with a dele- TREAT FOR THE HEAT A Flint, boy savon a Popalde, a perennial favorite oa a hoi summer day. In the fall of 1979 Jane became a postulant and began living in community with the Sisters at St. Mary of the Plains College. As a postulant, Jane continued to pursue her degree in Social Miss Jane Heavin became Sister Jane and was received into the Novitiate of the Sisters of St.

Region VI Softball Standings Dear Father, I went to a Catholic grade school and I now attend a good Catholic High School, I'm not a rebel, radical, long-haired freak or anything else in that line. I love my religion and every Sunday I go to my parish church. But I'm not particularly wild about my parish. As far as Liturgy is concerned, it's not with it for young people but I've gone to this church all of my life so that is why I go to it.

It's not really a personal problem for me but a parish problem for the young. Can't the parish do something with young people in mind? Not everyone goes to Mass with the same conviction I do and if something is not done, we will lose more and more young people. Peter 3 4JtM ttr -a r'4 5 In response to a request from leaders of the Hays Catholic community, consolidation of all Catholic secondary education in the Hays area emerged as one of the major goals that the Capuchin Province of Mid-America will be pursuing during the next few years. If carried out, this will change the situation where two different organizations own and operate separate schools for boys and girls within yards of one another on the west edge of Hays and would also widen the scope of Capuchin educational activity in the area. Convened in the Capuchin Province's first regular meet- Waddings Photo Finishing and copies Baby Photos Portraits PICTURE PALACE EAST WEST 683 3681 545 7703 whmrt mmoris arm mod ing since its 1977 establishment, almost the entire membership of the Province participated in the discussion and voting on this and other decisions, June 2-6.

While strongly reaffirming their intention to continue their ministry of education at Thomas More Prep, the Capuchin friars indicated that they also wished to have the relationship between the Province's commitment and those of the local and diocesan communities reexamined and perhaps realigned. Founded in 1908 through the initiative of the Capuchin friars, the Catholic boys school in Hays has been owned and controlled by the Capuchin Order for most of its 72 year history. Marian High School for girls, on the other hand, started in 1918 as part of the operation of St. Joseph's Parish, but was broadened in 1961 to a regional Catholic high school for girls owned by the Diocese of Salina and operated by several of the Catholic parishes in the Hays area. With Catholic secondary education in the Hays area presently under two different ownerships and two completely different forms of administration, it will be necessary to reexamine and perhaps restructure both the ownership and administration of the emerging co-educational Catholic high school.

No particular form was specified by the Capuchin meeting in its decision to seek consolidation. In the discussion, however, it was clear that the consolidation might not involve an outright merger of the two present schools, but rather an expansion of the Thomas More Prep program to include the girls of the area. As part of the reexamination of the ownership and administration of the consolidated program, the Capuchins have left themselves open to the possibility of turning over the control of the school to a corporation independent of the Capuchin Province of Mid-America, but no decision has yet been made on such a transfer of control. Peter, Schulte 12 St. Anne All Saints vs St. Margaret Mary (forfeit) Garden Plain High School lists semester honor roll It'o not easy being a small college in Big 8 So many people overlook you. And lots of them shouldn't. Because big schools aren't for everyone.

And Kansas Newman College with its distinctive educational program is a nice alternative to have. We think of it as a matter of fit. Some students need the individual attention that a smaller college is uniquely suited to provide. Others know that they have leadership abilities, but worry about having a chance to put them to use in a larger setting. And some people simply want to form the enriching personal relationships that are the rule at Kansas Newman, rather than the exception.

Kansas Newman College is small. And we like it that way. Do you think it might fit your needs?
