Despite robust box office (though less than expected), there -was mild moviegoer grumbling over what some termed a glorified "Future III" trailer. To be sure, -this lark doesn't "end" but it's still a ball to sit through unless you've been asked to write a linear plot synopsis the next day.

Now, all attention seems to be turned toward another Walt Disney all-animated classic that's leaving video's Never, Never Land better known as the studio's hallowed vaults and coming out soon on tapes and laser videodiscs. Disney's 1953 animated version of "Peter Pan," which last appeared in theaters in July 1989 and has amassed nearly $150 million (at current dollar value) from its six theatrical releases, is scheduled to hit stores on Sept. 21, 1990. It will arrive on discs shortly thereafter. Although the announcement of its video arrival had been expected, "Peter Pan" nonetheless has video insiders abuzz.

Disney has priced the tape at a new low for one of its "Classic" series features, $24.99. That's $2 less than its price for Discounts on the retail price for "Peter Pan" start with a $5 rebate, which purchasers receive by mail- ing in a coupon. This brings the tape's actual suggested retail price to $19.99. If retailer discounting is as common with "Peter Pan" as it has been with "The Little Mermaid," most buyers will be able to pick it -up for less than $15, after rebate. Those who shop.

around might even find it for less. As with the other Disney classics released on video including "Robin Hood," "Pinocchio, "Sleeping Beauty," "Lady and the Tramp" and "Cinderella" Woody Allen hybrid is a self-contained moral tragedy: A community pillar (Oscar-nominated Martin Landau) sanctions a heinous act arranged by his shady brother. 1 The yuk-filled "Misdemeanors" portion finds Allen afloat in more familiar, but still comically painful, material: A struggling filmmaker (Woody, of course) is hired for a puff-piece profile of his loathed in-law (Alan Alda). Half-morbid or not, Allen's most ambitious film is best taken as part of a jester's total work; viewed on this level, a la Chaplin and "Monsieur the emotional kick of the unifying final scene really packs a wallop. "The Fabulous Baker Boys" (1989, IVE, Frank Baker (Beau Bridges) supervises ivory tickling and attendant patter for one of the most cornball sibling piano-bar routines on record.

Jack Baker (Jeff Bridges), who coasts while Frank busts his behind, is a smug, demon-filled, no-doubt necessary censor of the act's worst material. For 15 years they've tempered each other's excesses. Of Then the equation is upset by the worn-but-beautiful escort-service vet (Michelle Pfeiffer) hired as the act's first-ever singer. Though Pfeiffer took every major best actress award but the Oscar, this is an ensemble effort all the way. Games people might play Speaking of casino games, state legislators are mulling over a bill that would allow casinos to offer a game called Red Dog. Red Dog is the name Nevada casinos have given to the old kitchen-table game Acey-Deucey. It's played by dealing two cards face up. The player then wagers whether the next card's value will fall between the first two (e.g.

if the first two cards are a 6 and a jack, the bet is on whether the next one will be a 7, 8, 9 or 10). Tony and Tina are, of course, the title lovebirds of "Tony 'n' Tina's Wedding," the smash hit audience participation comedy play that has just finished up' a blockbuster run in Philadelphia. The show in which the audience serves as "guests" at a fictional Italian wedding complete with dinner and dancing has booked for a July 9-Aug. 29 run at Trump Plaza.

The happy event will take place in two Plaza ballrooms. One will serve as the church, the other will be the catering hall. The price will be $55 per person, including an Italian buffet. That's the same the producers charged for the Philadelphia performances. Slot talk keeping with the latest gaming trend, Caesars has just opened its Olympic Slot Arena, a separate LUNCH SPECIALS HAPPY HOUR DAILY area where high-rolling players can try their luck at the one-armed bandits.

The casino-within-a-casino features 61 $1, 56 $5, six $25 and five $100 machines. It's elevated, and decorated in Caesars' trademark crimson and gold. It boasts a black marble staircase and butler service for customers. On the Megabucks front, the multi-casino progressive system seems to be a hit among Atlantic City's handle-pullers. Five of the six participating casinos have ordered more of the machines that guarantee a seven-figure jackpot every two-to-three months.

As of June 18, the citywide number of the one-dollar bandits will total 143. When the system went on line March 23, there were 80 in operation. The biggest increase has occured at Caesars, which tripled its inventory from 16 to 48. Nobody has hit a grand prize yet, but $250,000 in 4 wion. inru out.
