Individuals listed in Police Briefs who have been charged with a crime have not been proven guilty in court. DeKalb city Dennis M. Marx, 41, of the 700 block of South Fourth Street in DeKalb, was arrested Monday, Aug.

6, on a warrant for obscenity. DeKalb County Chelcie A. Lannom, 19, of the 1400 block of Twombly Road in DeKalb, was charged Tuesday, Aug. 7, with two counts of domestic battery. Sycamore Brittney N.

SYCAMORE Frances R. Hoffman, 86, of Sycamore, died Monday, Aug. 6, 2012, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born Oct. 1, 1925, in Mayfield Township, the daughter of Walter and Emma (Johnson) Gronberg.

She married Ernest H. Hoffman on Aug. 3, 1946. Frances co-farmed with her husband and son in rural Sycamore. She was an active member of the Salem Lutheran Church of Sycamore.

She will be dearly missed by her loving family. Frances is survived by three children, Eileen (Garry) Sapp of DeBary, Joanne (Ron) Leifheit of Sycamore, and Steve (Claudia) Hoffman of Sycamore; seven grandchildren, Tami (Tom) Riner, Benjamin D. Carsten, 21, of the 1400 block of Turn-berry Court in Geneva, was charged with crimi Benjamin D. Carsten nal sexual assault and two counts of battery. If convicted of criminal sexual assault, Carsten could face four to 15 years in prison.

Carsten appeared during a hearing at the DeKalb County Courthouse via closed-circuit TV from the county jail. A warrant was issued for Carsten's arrest June 6, with bond set at $100,000. According to court documents, on Jan. 4, Carsten committed an act of sexual penetration with a woman unable to give consent. DeKalb police Lt.

Jason Leverton said Carsten then battered the woman and a friend when they confronted him about the situation, which occurred in the 1200 block of Blackhawk Road. Attorney Peter Gruber was appointed to represent Carsten, who will appear in court again Thursday. 5, 2012, in DeKalb, III SYCAMORE Donald D. Haefner, 85, of Sycamore, died Sunday, Aug. 5, 2012, at the DeKalb County Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in DeKalb. He was born Jan. 29, 1927, in Klemme, Iowa, the son of R.H.

and Helen (Maitland) Haefner. He married Jeanne Smith on April 3, 1948, in Sycamore. Donald was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy. Donald worked as a service technician for Nicor, retiring after 40 years of service.

He was a member of the Sycamore VFW. He is survived by his wife, Jeanne, of Sycamore; two daughters, Pat Duchardt of Peoria and Pam Bryant of Whitefish, two grandchildren, Star Schultz and Ben Conlin; and one great-granddaughter, Kaitlyn. He was preceded in death by his parents. His funeral service and burial will be private. A memorial has been established for Donald Haefner with the American Cancer Society in care of the Butala Funeral Home and Crematory, 1405 DeKalb Sycamore, IL 60178.

Terrie Jean Hallfrisch, 60, daughter of Wilda Ann Peterson-Olson, went to join her heavenly Father on Aug. 6, 2012, after a year-long battle with brain and lung cancer. She married Perry Hallfrisch on July 25, 1996, in Menominee, Mich. She was born June 8, 1952, in Marinette, to Wilda Ann Strem and Thorton John Pecor. She is survived by her husband, Perry; her mother, Wilda Ann Peterson-Olson, and stepfather, Orville Olson; sisters, Darlene Anne (Wayne) Williams, Debra Lynn (Stephen) Jaskulske, Janet Leigh (Lee) Kujak; and brother, Mark Andrew (Pepnepa) Peterson.

She also is survived by nieces and nephews, Aimee and Alexander Kujak, Crystal Svoboda, Julia and Steven Jaskulske, Vincent and Micaela Peterson, cousin Marty Phelps and great-niece Sabrina Lynn Svoboda. Terrie also was survived by uncles, Harry (Nancy) Strem, James Wayne Strem, John Robert (Alice) Strem, and preceded in Lindsey Scavella, BS, HIS 519 agencies have threatened to lower the state's rating unless lawmakers ease the strain on the budget. While living in DeKalb, Deborah worked at McDonald's, TransVac and Opportunity House, Inc. The family has fond memories of Deb enjoying her many word search puzzles. We will always remember her beautiful smile! We also would like to acknowledge the sacrifices and dedication Deb showed in caring for our mother.

She is survived by her mother, Eva Talley of DeKalb; four brothers, Ray Jr. of Beloit, Isaac (Reyna) of Los Angeles, Rick of Charlotte, N.C., McErwin (Maria) of Los Angeles; two sisters, Diane Ashley of DeKalb and Eva Baker of Rockford; and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Bishop Ray L. Talley. Her funeral service will be at 11 a.m.

Saturday, Aug. 11, at The Israel of God's Church, W.H.A., 248 North Sycamore. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. The visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church.
