Five county industries to take part in Job Fair Five Pontiac and Liviagston County industries will be represented in the "Job Fair" program set for Thursday, Oct. 7, in Bloomington. The program, designed to give veterans of Livingston and McLean counties an opportunity to meet and confer with representatives of employers in the two county area, is being sponsored by the Association of Commerce and Industry of McLean County, the Bloomington-Normal Personnel Council, the Illinois State i Livingston and McLean County Veterans Organizations and Pontiac Chamber of Commerce. The joint county venture will held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

at the Illinois National Guard Armory, located at 1616 S. Main St. in Bloomingtin. To date, Pontiac Chamber of Commerce President Donovan Gardner reported, a total of 29 commitments to participate have been received from representatives of the professional, industrial, business and agricultural employers located within the two county area. Livingston County interests to be represented are Interlake, Motorola, Nation Wide Glove Manufacturing, Nichols Homeshield and Pontiac Chair.

Also, on hand will be representatives from the Illinois Department of Personnel, the Illinois State Employment Service and Illinois Veterans Commission. Persons desiring further information concerning the Job Fair may contact the Pontiac Chamber of Commerce. State Employment officials report that some 400 veterans from the two county area are expected to participate. Diabetes testing resumes in county Twenty-five persons were tested in September as part of Livingston County's 1971-72 Why Wait Diabetes Testing project, according to Mrs. Arthur Carlson, general chairman for last fall's diabetes testing project for Livingston County Homemakers Extension-Association.

The next test date, Thursday, Oct. 7, will be the second since the testings resumed in September. The tests will be conducted at the County Health Department office located in the Convalescent Center on Torrance Avenue at the Weston Blacktop. The tests, Mrs. Carlson said, will be given under the direction of Mrs.

Gladys Kohrt, acting administrator of the County Health Department and appointments can be made by calling 844-7005 before Oct. 7. The time of the testing is from 2 to 4 p.m. Instructions regarding the test itself will be given when each individual sets up an appointment. In all 1,116 persons from Livingston County have been tested since the programs inception in the fall of 1970.

Of that number, she concluded, 66 referrals have been made for blood sugar and 6 for blood pressure to then: family doctors. Legion Auxiliary hears report on Girls State Miss Lucy Spalding gave a report on Girl's State at the Monday, Sept. 20, meeting of the American Legion Auxiliary Aarvig-Campbell Unit held at the American Legion Billet. Miss Spalding was sponsored by the unit to attend Girl's State for a week this summer at MacMurray College, Jacksonville. President Mrs.

It was voted to donate $20 to the Community Chest Benson man hurt in crash here A Benson man was treated for injuries after an accident late Saturday after his car hit a utility pole near Pontiac. Errol Peterson, 32, of Benson was treated at St. James Hospital and released following the accident at 11:15 p.m. on the Katydid blacktop, miles north of Route 23.

Trooper Al Lindsey investigated and charged Peterson with driving too fast for conditions. Peterson's car went out of control and hit the pole. Dreabon Branch, 64, of Spring, was charged with a right of way violation following an accident at the intersection of Routes 24 and 47 in Forrest at 3:45 p.m. Sunday. Branch had stopped at the sign at the intersection, then pulled into the side of a car on Route 47 driven by Robin David, 29, of Aurora, Police reported.

Trooper Jerry Burton investigated the accident. Junior High students study stars Wednesday night 103 students from all seven sections of the Pontiac Junior High School seventh grade class participated in a star-gazing trip as an added experience of their Earth Science class. Two buses, carrying more than one-half of the seventh grade, left the school at 7:30 p.m. Students were transported to the Harlan Bruer farm four miles east of Pontiac, where the field trip was held. The trip was held in the country to get away from the city lights which minimize the celestial effect.

While the weather was not entirely clear, students were able to see five constellations before clouds all but obliterated the stars. Along with recognizing constellations, students learned some of the legends and mythology behind the constellations. The voluntary trip was directed by seventh grade Earth Science teacher, Thomas Pogue. Assisting him were Mrs. Lynn Means, Mrs.

Jane Radebaagh, John Rodino, Greg McHenry and James Borisek. Fund. Mrs. Mary Hicks is membership chairman. They also voted to send five delegates to the 17th District Fall convention to be held at Metamora.

The five delegates will be Mrs. Viva Shonkwiler, Mrs. Fannie Worthington, Mrs. Mary Petropoul; Mrs. Margaret Seloti and Mrs.

Madelaine Deffenbaugh. Two other members have been elected to the nth- District Board. are Mrs. Eddith Shoop and Mrs. Geraldine Johnson.

Refreshments were served after the meeting by Mrs. Eddith Shoop and Mrs. Roberta Kennedy and their committee. Qty Police investigate two accidents City Police investigated two accidents in Pontiac over the weekend, and one of the drivers was issued a ticket following one collision. Lou Ann Dempsey, la, of Forrest was charged with failing to reduce speed to avoid an accident after her car hit the rear of a car driven by Rick D.

Miller, 17, 104 Lowell Ave. The accident happened at 9:30 p.m. Sunday in the Mr. Quick parking lot. According to Police, Miller had stopped to allow a car to back from a parking space when his car was struck from behind by the Dempsey auto.

Damage to Miller's 1965 auto was estimated at $85 and at $300 to the 1969 auto driven by Miss Dempsey. Vehicles driven by Susan I. Ackerman, 56, of Chenoa and Edward B. Wuebbens, 56, 920 S. Mill were in an accident Saturday at 11:10 a.m.

at the corner of Main and Livingston Streets. Mrs. Ackerman had stopped for the traffic sign at the intersection, then attempted to cross Main Streeet, Police reported, when her car was struck in the right rear fender by the Wuebbens vehicle on Main Street. Damage was estimated at $250 to the Ackerman auto and at $150 to the Wuebbens van. No ticket was issued after the accident.

George Delheimer Sr. of Cornell, and William Pleasant, son of Mrs. George Pleasant of Streator and the late Mr. Pleasant, were married Oct. 5, 1946 at St.

Joseph's Catholic Church in Cornell by the late Rev. Joseph Farley. Attending the couple were her sister, Miss Rosemary Delheimer, now Mrs. Irvin Johnson of Cornell, and Ray Wahl of Streator. Mr.

and Mrs. Pleasant are parents of a son, David, and three daughters, Patricia, Beth and Amy. Mr. Pleasant is Cornell postmaster. Mrs.

Mrs. Swager was born May 24, 1884 at Logansport, a daughter of Adam and Florence (Gray) Gibson. She married Harvey Gagnier on March 1912. He died in 1914. She married William H.

Swager on Feb. 5,1919 at Crown Point, Ind. He died in 1938. Surviving are two daughters. Mrs.

Herschel Dodson, Redwood Manor, have gone to Fort Lauderdale, to spend the winter. Arrests over the weekend sent eight persons to County Jail. Arrested on Friday were Dennis Knudsen, 16, of Streator and Allen Gray, 18, of Fairbury. Knudsen appeared hi court Friday and was sentenced to five days hi County Jail on a charge of no valid driver's license. Charges of reckless driving, curfew violation and failing to dim headlights were dismissed.

Gray was arrested by the Fairbury Police and charged with illegal possession of liquor. He was released after posting bond. Robert Bowman, 46, of Forrest was to appear in court today on a charge of disorderly conduct. He was arrested Saturday by the Forrest Police. Those who were released after posting bond were Don E.

Stahl, 18, of Fairbury, arrested Saturday by the Fairbury Police on a charge of illegal transportation of liquor, and John H. Yoder, 24, of Streator, arrested Sunday by the Sheriff's Department on a warrant for violation of the paternity act. Robert C. Vaughan, 23, of Fairbury was taken into custody Saturday by the Sheriff's Department for Kane County authorities. He was released to Kane County off- ficials.

Darrell W. Beckham, 17, of Huntsville, and a 16-year- old Corinth, youth were to appear in court today on charges of auto theft. They were arrested Saturday by the State Police. Mrs. Lundquist's funeral to be in Colorado Sentenced to year at penal farm Michael Bruce Tullis, 21, of Pontiae was sentenced to serve one year at the Penal Farm at Vandalia after pleading guilty to a charge of aggravated battery.

He appeared before Judge Darrell Reno Friday in Magistrate Division of Circuit Court. Tullis pleaded guilty to the charge of aggravated battery which was filed following a fight and stabbing Monday night, Sept. 21, on the Court House square. Jeff Staley, 18,1002 E. Water was hospitalized with injuries he received in the stabbing.

He was released from the hospital last Wednesday. Tullis and Del Baker, 21, of Saunemin were arrested following the incident. At Friday's court appearance, charges of unlawful use of weapon and reckless conduct and a second charge of aggravated battery against Tullis were dismissed on motion of the State's Attorney. Baker appeared in Magistrate Division last week and pleaded not guilty to a "charge of aggravated He is being held in County Jail in lieu of $2,000 bond. He requested a jury trial.

Tuesday at St. Rose Catholic Church, with the Rev. Stanley Malinowski officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 at the Culkin Funeral Home at Forrest, where the rosary will be recited at 8 p.m.

He was born Nov. 18, 1910, at Strawn, a son of Conrad and Isabelle (Quinn) Brieden. He never married. He is survived by his mother of Strawn, and a brother, Kenneth, Strawn. He was preceded in death by a brother.
