Brian Sickora, the WSKG chief executive who reinvigorated the Southern public broadcasting outlet by add- i ng news staff and more local program- ing, is leaving to head a public televi- ion network licensed to the University North Carolina. Brian Frey, the director of history and heritage programming, will serve as interim chief while trustees earch for a replacement. ickora, an accountant by training, oined WSKG in 2007 after having served with the Corporation for Public Broadcasting in Washington, D.C. The departing Sickora has been des cribed as a quiet yet effective manager ho re-established the organization on a olid financial footing.

For listeners and viewers of the local public broadcaster, he is best known for trimming the marathon fundraising sessions from more han a weeklong event to a single day.
