The project has a twofold purpose: to honor women who have made a signifcant contribution to business and industry in managerial, professional, technical, sales marketing, and entrepreneural roles; and to recognize corporations for establishing progressive personnel policies and for providing opportunities for advancement of women in business and industry.

TWIN also increases the awareness of the roles of women in Mississippi business and industry, informs Teen Young Women of career opportunities, encourages career planning for Teen Young Women, and assists Teen Young Women in discovering their potential. The Mississippi District YWCA is a statewide non-profit membership movement of women and girls whose principles are founded on a Christian heritage. It brings together members of diverse experiences and faith, so that together they ay develop interpersonal relationships and leadership abilities that will enable them to make a difference in the community, state, nation and world. The TWIN PROJECT will honor these outstanding business women with a TWIN AWARD for their achievements and will recognize their sponsoring companies industries at the first TWIN banquet on Friday, April 18, at the Ramada Renaissance in Jackson.
