Not Kressen. Although he has become something of an expert on Ben Franklin, he remains Sam Kressen, a professional actor who is rather proud of his craft. Sam's career began in Central High school. Philadelphia, where public speaking, debating and oratory were required subjects. The idea of standing in front of an auditorium full of people who sat quietly listening to his every word was rather intriguing.

Stage fright? Not Sam. AS A matter of fact, there was nothing that could keep him from joining the school drama group after his first exhilirating experiences. He was, as they say, stagestruck. Graduation usually means an end to debating societies and drama clubs. Sam wouldn't buy that.

Still, it was the time of the Great Depression and there was little Sam could buy so he turned 0 0 i "FOR love ii 0 -THREE V7S- 1 I i Friday 6, 8 10 P.M. Sat. Mat. 1, Eve. 6, 8 ft 10 Sun.

N. J. his 10 his energies toward an inexpensive but rewarding diversion called a "theatre group." The Neighborhood Players later to evolve into the Society Hill Playhouse group was the first to experience Sam Kressen, actor. AN ACTOR owes his audience and his producers "as professional a performance as possible every time you step on stage." Toward that end, Sam arrives at the theatre at least an hour and a half before show time. He checks his costume, props, wig and a hundred and one other details until he is fully confident of their location and condition.

A full half-hour is spent just concentrating on his character. Only then is he ready to become, for the next few hours, Benjamin Franklin. "1776," has been playing at the Independence Mall Theatre for several months. Audiences, although enthusiastic, have been small even thought the prize-winning musical about the signing of the Declaration of Independence is being performed within sight of the actual happening. f33 One Night Only featuring LedZeppiin Show jctx.
